Agreed. Bears second team defense is actually still competitive. Bears second team offense is comprised of converted guys (Horsted, Patterson, Coward). But it doesn't fit the narrative of the haters.

Since 1985, there isn't a 5 year period where the Bears did not have a top 12 D at least 1 year. So no building a good D in Chicago has not been particulalry hard Emery notwithstanding.
From 2002-2015, the Saints had a top 10 D only twice and a top 10 offense 10 times.
At the time of Pace's hiring we were clamoring for someone with an ability to draft offense.
So yes he deserves credit for the building of the D but he has failed at what the hope was based on his resume with the Saints ie building a modern NFL offense.
