Shit man thanks. That's pretty cheap too.

It's not the most advanced set up but it gets the job done.

It's all my dad and I use to smoke on.

Another thing, when/if you get it drill some holes in the bottom of the charcoal pan. Helps air flow.

Yeah thts perfect though. I don't need anything advanced. Plus it's nice to have something simple to start out with. I'm gonna see if there's any places near me that carry that. If not I'll just put in the order tonight. It'll make this diet A lot better. I'm tired of this garbage stove cooked chicken and steak

Walmart or Target may carry them.

Menards, Farm and Fleet, etc.

You can smoke on anything. As you can see I use a gas grill to do it

You need to be aware of size and temperature setting to get best performance.

While gas is instant on it does loose sOmerhing. That said I can basically reproduce a charcoal/wood lumP flavor with Gas without much of an issue. Just don't be afraid to fail.

On a few smoking forums/websites you can find instructions/pics on how to mod cheap smokers like the Brinkman to make them work better, like FT mentioned with the thermometer/charcoal pan.

I have an offset grill/smoker and have done a few mods myself.

My family and friends got my wife and I a double sided grill for a wedding gift. I've never used the gas side. Never even hooked it up.

**** grilling on gas.

I have to have a gas grill. I live in a condo and Midlothian doesn't allow charcoal grills to be used by apartment or condo dwellers because of the fire hazard.

Question for FT. I was at Home Depot looking at all of the grills and they didnt have that Brinkmann Sportsman grill but they had one called Smoke'N Grill. Looked exactly the same. Checked online at their website and i didnt see anything that showed the difference in them. i just ended up getting that one, knowing i could always return it if its trash.

I was wondering if you knew anything on it and why its different. It was like 40 bucks.

Bought a new grill the other day, and thought I was getting a great deal until I opened the box...where of course I found 50 pieces to assemble and vague instructions. Love the grill, but damn it took 2 hours to put together.

Also, if anyone in the area is looking for smoking wood try Meijers. They carry apple, cherry, and pecan chips.

Meijer is a great place for smoking chips. If the weather holds out I might try some ribs with apple wood on Saturday morning. (Yep, I eat that for breakfast)

Ribs, when smoked properly are suitable for all 3 meals...even when cold.

Menards is also a good spot for BBQ supplies, particularly in the Fall when all lump charcoal is half price...stuff gets expensive.

Steak on my dad's grill

I cut it in half because he and I like it at different levels of doneness. He likes it medium rare and I like it medium.

Oh yeah it is. Got my second set of rib racks for 3.00 ea

Haven't broken the grill in yet, weather's been too uncooperative. Those racks are a must for long smoking periods, or to make a bunch in one shot.
