hey guys, has anyone grilled with guava wood before? i read its great for smoking, and weve got a tree thats growing out of control in the backyard. it needs to get trimmed down, i figured the wood could get put to good use.

my question is, would the wood be ready to burn right off the tree? or does it need to be dried or processed somehow.

ok, that makes sense, if they arent dried out a bit they would probably crackle and pop too much. good to know. probably gonna do some trimming this weekend and then leave some out to dry for a few days

unfortunately you need like 6-9 months to have it dry out. I researched it up and it would be tough to start, keep lit, etc. I think I would hold it for next year but you also have nothing to loose if it doesn't work.

i read this recently as well. i probably wont be going that far with the drying, but my initial plan was just to use the kingsford briquettes as the main heat source and pepper in some small chunks of guava wood on top and see how it burns.

Brats I grilled tonight.

Since it was the closest thing to a cookout I was gonna do today, I kicked back, opened up a bottle of Miller Genuine Draft and ate dinner on my balcony.

I've grilled some pizzas, but not those. I bought some frozen crusts from a local company and topped them with various stuff and cooked them on a pizza stone on the grill. They were pretty damn good.

Borrowed a cast iron skillet from my dad today. Someday I'm gonna try making a full breakfast (eggs, sausage and toast) on the grill and from watching cooking shows I knew I'd need a skillet for the eggs.

Grilled some pork steaks tonight...3 thin ones...put bbq sauce on them while they were on the grill. Cut them in smaller pieces and put them on wheat...w/ some mac and cheese.

I love grilling.
