I don't think they'll all turn out or be superstars. I just don't want to lose them.

So i have decided instead of signing a stop gap guy they should just put Colvin at 1B and play Fukudome in RF. Then when Fukudome and Silva contract done after 2011 season go HARD after FIELDER and move Colvin back to RF.....If they going to go young rather them just do it then sign guys like Pena,LaRoche, or Overbay

cardinals look to have a descent hitting lineup. but their d is not so hot. pujols, berkman, and holliday is pretty solid....they will have to score some runs to make up for that outfield.

I pretty much agree daddies, except for one thing.

I've been wanting Colvin at 1st the whole time. However, the cubs are expected to call up Brett Jackson between May or June to start in RF, which would put Fukudome on the bench. So, let's say he proves himself and has a good season, what do you do then?

If Fielder is traded mid-season and signs an extension with another team, then there is no question. But say Fielder makes it to FA and the Cubs sign him like you say. Does Colvin start in RF over Jackson, become a backup 1B/OF, does Byrd get traded for Colvin to take CF, or is Colvin traded?

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just want to hear your scenario. Mine would be to make Colvin a backup for 2012 and then let him take over in CF in 2013 when/if Byrd signs elsewhere. Remember, I am saying IF Brett Jackson comes up and has a good season for this speculation.

Could the Cubs try and acquire King Felix??

Uhhh no, he'll cost more than Greinke and Gonzo.

If Jackson came up i would have Jackson in CF, Colvin in RF in 2012. Byrd would be on last year of deal and puts up anything this year could be traded. So i guess 2012 could look this:

Jackson CF
Castro SS
Fielder 1B
3B ( i wouldnt mine A-Ram, I still think he a good 3B)
Sori LF
Soto C
Colvin RF
Hak Ju Lee 2B (or he could be at SS and Castro at 2B, i have seen Lee at Peoria and really like his D over Castro so far)...

Be interesting lineup.

That would be a favorable lineup.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....Davis has been given tries MULTIPLE times to take TEX 1B job and all times they had to find new guy. His swing is so LONG AND LOOPY. Rather just see Colvin at 1B and Fukudome in RF

•Scott Boras' asking price for Carlos Pena remains "really high." The first baseman does have interest in Baltimore. according to MLBTRADERUMORS

if this is true then we know CHC not getting him. I hope they dont actually

Really? You have to ask that question? Colvin is not a starting OFer or 1B. He's a good 4th OFer and we should play him there, to have him as an asset.

Davis is never the best option.

I'm not so sure that Hak-Ju is that close to being MLB ready though. I thought he was supposed to be up a little later than that like 2013, but I could be wrong.

If Ramirez does good this year then the mutual option could be picked up by both sides, there aren't many others on the market:
Jose Bautista (31)
Wilson Betemit (30)
Casey Blake (38) - $6MM club option with a $1.25MM buyout
Mark DeRosa (37)
Wes Helms (36)
Omar Infante (30)
Jose Lopez (28)
Aramis Ramirez (34)
Miguel Tejada (38)
Omar Vizquel (45)

I think Colvin would be in Center because the Cubs converted Jackson over to Right recently while Colvin has played all OF positions.

And ya, that isn't bad. What would make it really interesting though is now that Sori has improved his defense and his hitting a bit, if he can get back to where he was in 2008, batting in the .280's, and if Ramirez could also raise his average. Then I don't think we'd even be talking about the division, but the playoffs, all season.
