The same guy that is reporting the Cubs paid 1.6 million for Vogelbach is saying that they also signed 10th round pick SS Daniel Lockhart.

I am curious what Maples got because the Cubs are paying four or five draft picks 1st round money.

Maples money is higher than Dunston and could be higher than Vogelbach.

So that is four guys signed for first round money. 6 if you want to count the two international amateurs that got 7 figures as well.

If Maples signs..it'll be Baez, Vogelbach, Maples and Dunston. But many higher draftees, sign for top 5 round money and way higher. It's actually nice to see.

The Cubs are getting a ridiculous amount of overslots this year. It is really nice to see. Hopefully most of them make it through the system, and make something of themselves for the big league club. Vogelbach was the guy I was most interested, but Maples is also very intriguing.

Prospects are prospects and baseball is a numbers game. You gotta sign as many of the (hopefully) good ones as possible in order to eventually fill out a decent MLB roster. I'm glad the Cubs are spending even though it's more likely than not that most of these signees won't be much more than league average. But you might have a gold nugget in there, which is why we go prospecting

I am curious to see where the Cubs rate next year as an organization given the infusion of talent to the system recently. A lot of the top guys in the system have had down years or have been hurt. So it will be interesting to see if the ranking goes up or down.

Brett Jackson will still have to be one. Hayden Simpson won't be up there. Vitters will prolly stay put. I think McNutt will drop one or two and on and on.

So what's this about Vogelbach not having been signed? 1.5 hours to go until the deadline...

I was more talking about where the whole system rated compared to others. We've been at 15 and 16 the past two years. Curious to see if the falling off the top guys would be more than made up with this draft class or not in the eyes of Baseball America.

Ugh I thought he was in the bag. That would really suck if we lose out on him because as I said I really liked that pick.
