Post the Phil Rogers source please

It's something Anno got off his Twitter feed so you may want to ask him. I don't Twitter.

It may end up on MLBTR or chicagobreakingsports at some point though.

I'm cool with taking Lackey on as a reclamation project.

Ditto, but $45 million over three years isn't quite the same thing as signing Wade Miller to a minor league deal.

If that was absolutely what it took to get Epstein, and the Red Sox were unwilling to kick in any dough or take on a crappy contract in return, I suppose I'd still support the move.

It's a sizable chunk of change but the Cubs need pitching anyway especially if Z is gone. I think Lackey is due for a rebound (you would hope anyway based on his past performance) and we give up nothing in return except the money for that contract.

I'm still of the opinion that very few items of substance will change hands other than a couple of crappy prospects and some money.

But I think I'd either take Lackey or offer them Marlon Byrd. The Red Sox need a right fielder, no?

He's putting a date on it.. Means he knows it's about to go down.

I hope so, but unfortunately in these times of social media and instant "news" we still don't know what is speculation and what is more concrete. I'd lean towards the latter but I wouldn't celebrate until something is more officially official.

Rogers is more credible then over 90% of media writers as far as a report goes.

If he knows something.. especially of this magnitude.. He's gonna post it.

It might actually be an atypical Cubs move in order to get the best (or at least one of the best) candidates to run the ship.

So who decides the compensation? Is it up to Theo to figure out what he's worth? Hmm....

I agree with Rice, that very little will be transferred. I'd be cool with Byrd or Lackey... or both. That would help offset the money a little bit. The next couple of days are going to be dope, though!

Boston and the Cubs would have to decide the compensation....

Promising young Starlin Castro will be Boston's new shortstop. If this is not possible, then the Cubs are responsible for taking Boston's next five-year pitcher contract off of their hands, as the Red Sox will have forgotten how bad of an idea those are without Lackey around to remind them.

That's not possible...

Boston would prolly like to trade Lackey, so they can throw money at another starter in Wilson.

*Obviously.* A decision like that is generally made by the General Manager, in which case would be Theo. Therefore, I am pondering whether or not Theo would be the one to decide who his compensation is or not.
