Yeah, it was terrible the first time I experienced it. I don't want that again.

But like you said, need a miracle agreement at this rate.

Someone has to give a bit....it just doesnt look like anyone is willing to cave in.

Elliotte Freidman of CBC: Freidman points out there are 3 groups of owners: “the ones who want to play; the ones in the middle, including Tampa and Nashville, who want a better collective bargaining agreement but recognize not playing is worse; and the hardliners.” The players think that Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs is calling the shots. The “hardliners” group may include the Ducks, Blue Jackets, Panthers, Islanders, Coyotes, Blues, Capitals and Stars. That is enough teams to block any agreement. Some teams didn’t like the idea of teams reaching the salary floor with actual cash and not bonus money.

HOW MUCH OFthe NHL's money should go to its players? That question has dominated labor negotiations, fan chatter and media analysis since the league's owners imposed their lockout on Sept. 15.

But the key issue facing hockey isn't whether players should receive roughly 74 percent of NHL revenues (as they did before the lockout that ended the 2004-05 season) or 57 percent (as they did under the last deal) or 50 percent (as the owners recently offered). It isn't about how owners and players should share revenues at all. It's about how owners should share revenues with one another. Unless the league resolves that question correctly, its financial problems will remain -- and the game will be destined for more lockouts.

pretty much

this is from Darren Helm.

"Everyone knew the situation before the season even ended last year, and it took forever for any kind of proposal to be made," Helm said.

"It's been such a slow process, where I think, just nothing is getting taken really serious right now."

Of course, the union isn't innocent if you're talking about the lack of proposals before the end of the 2012-13 campaign.

Helm added that if the NHL cancels the 2013 Winter Classic, "it doesn't look very good for a season to be played."

I refuse to get up my hopes at this point. It's Ecklund after all.

The way I see it, they can come to a deal as late as having a 43 game schedule and save the season. After that point, the season is pretty much canceled.

So  hoping they get a deal done before January.

Hockey Night in Canada ftw! Always reminds me of my college days when a group of floormates and I would go to the on campus sports bar, Canada is great with having bars on campus, and watch the Leafs play. Good times.

At least they will meet again unlike the past few meetings where they meet and then go pout in a corner for a week.

Meeting for several hours, saying nothing afterwards with plans to resume meeting tomorrow is probably best anyone could've hoped for today.

My blame has been slowly shifting from the Owners to the Players in this lockout.

If the owners are willing to do 50/50 and IF (possibly the biggest if because it is something that needs to happen) the owners honor the contracts that they signed off on...I don't see why the players would not accept it. I understand the players are currently getting 57%, but that is ridiculous. The players are making a very comfortable salary and living a first class life because of these owners. Have to make it worth the owners while to put up all the money that they do. The players are going to make their salary but the owners take all the risk on if they are going to make a profit or not.

Dan Rosen‏@drosennhl

After 13 players took part in the meeting Tuesday, NHLPA says 8 will be involved today. It's possible some left due to the pending storm.
