Why people keep their hopes is beyond me. Til I see "CBA Agreement", i'm not holding my breath on a deal.

this is the most positive movement we have seen. Sure its likely shit can go south, but still this brings hope for the 2012/2013 season...atleast a little bit

Sounding like a mix bag. Inching closer to sticking a fork in the 2012/13 "season".

My blame has been slowly shifting from the Owners to the Players in this lockout.

If the owners are willing to do 50/50 and IF (possibly the biggest if because it is something that needs to happen) the owners honor the contracts that they signed off on...I don't see why the players would not accept it. I understand the players are currently getting 57%, but that is ridiculous. The players are making a very comfortable salary and living a first class life because of these owners. Have to make it worth the owners while to put up all the money that they do. The players are going to make their salary but the owners take all the risk on if they are going to make a profit or not.

I could be wrong, but when the salaries are linked and the HRR comes down to 50/50, the players' contracts cannot be honored. It's not remotely possible; so that's why I think the players haven't jumped at that deal.

My understanding is that it is possible but it really depends on the definition of HRR, which is apparently still up in the air as well. Those contracts need to be honored if a deal is to be made, I don't see how one can happen otherwise.

A memo sent from Fehr to the players.

Meeting for the 4th day in a row...but McKenzie and Dreger don't seem to think much progress was made over the last 3 days. The good thing at this point is that they are still meeting.

pretty much. they are on a roll with meeting, if they break off with nothing done it could spell real trouble. That is what I fear, seems like both sides want hockey back but it is still scary that we may read that there are no more meetings. they need to get this done.

All I know is that when this lockout ends, you might need to post a thread with a roster - I don't think I'll have any idea who is on the team then (not that I remember Bowman actually having done all that much in the offseason - a lot of whiffs...

“@BaichwalABC7: Sources in Chicago tell me NHL lockout will be settled in time to get skating Dec. 2." He is Canadian, so he knows things.

Remember that one year there was no baseball? What was it, 1994? Wonder if that's what will happen with this...

Cautiously optimistic that we will get hockey this year.

There was baseball, but no World Series. I don't even recall when an entire MLB season was wiped out, but if they don't get hockey soon this will be the second time in a decade the NHL has wiped out an entire season.

NHL is only major league to lose a whole season, none of the NFL, MLB, CFL, MLS, or NBA have.

Because that was definitely the point of that post that you drew it out, huh?

And have you ever been to Seattle? Portland? Even Vancouver? You'd see quite clearly that people do care about it if you had in the past (though Seattle would have to be 2009-present, Portland and Vancouver, 2011-present since that's when they got their teams).

If you lived in one of those great soccer markets you wouldn't be saying this. Then again, if you lived in Phoenix or Dallas you'd be saying the same about the NHL.

While it hasn't grown to the point where it is popular everywhere, it certainly has a pretty healthy fan base now, but more so in certain markets.

Yes, it is not the most popular sports league here in the US. We all know that. Why bring up how you don't care about it when it has no real application to the thread or point of the quoted post?
