Because that was definitely the point of that post that you drew it out, huh?

And have you ever been to Seattle? Portland? Even Vancouver? You'd see quite clearly that people do care about it if you had in the past (though Seattle would have to be 2009-present, Portland and Vancouver, 2011-present since that's when they got their teams).

If you lived in one of those great soccer markets you wouldn't be saying this. Then again, if you lived in Phoenix or Dallas you'd be saying the same about the NHL.

While it hasn't grown to the point where it is popular everywhere, it certainly has a pretty healthy fan base now, but more so in certain markets.

Yes, it is not the most popular sports league here in the US. We all know that. Why bring up how you don't care about it when it has no real application to the thread or point of the quoted post?

According to Chris Botta of the Sports Business Journal, if there is no CBA agreement within the next seven days, the NHL will cancel games through Dec. 15.

Botta's source says the cancellation after that one "could be the season" and that the "drop-dead date" will be coming soon after that. The two sides have reacquainted themselves with their staring contest of late, as no face-to-face meetings have taken place since Sunday. Depending on who you listen to, the owners and the union are either still very far apart or a deal could come together very quickly with some concessions. In actuality, it doesn't much matter how the state of negotiations are described because all it takes is for one meeting for an agreement to emerge out of nowhere. Of course, they need to get together for that to happen.

Urge to kill...rising....

Blackhawks have provided the perfect bridge between the Bears and Cubs starting for me for several years now. It is really frustrating that we are going to lose a peak year of our core to greediness on all sides (imo most on the owners' side but I can accept that both sides are).

Read tweets that the meeting was a waste of time.

Good to know. :pity:

"Lockout is not about majority of players, i think. It is about several superstars with big contracts."

told the Chicago Tribune that another proposal from the players' association is being considered but "nothing is definite." "In fact, we've always been working on proposals, and that's shown in the multiple offers thus far," he said in an e-mail. "Time is ticking more now than ever but we're not at a point where the season would be cancelled--at least in my opinion. For now, it's a continued reserved optimism." The NHL lockout reached Day 66 on Tuesday and both sides will reportedly get back to the table on Wednesday. The league wants to see everything the players want in writing to proceed with talks.
