I’m just saying WE consider him that. We have no clue yet if teams agree. They disagree on media/fan consensus every year.
It seems like "we" as in "draftniks talking about the draft" seem to have soured on him for some reason. I'm making the argument that that's overthinking things and that NFL GMs will value the incredible production and technique over the less-than-ideal measurables.

I still think Jax might rail poles in a trade
I sure as **** hope they haven't fallen in love with Jeanty that much that they'd be willing to give up a 2nd to move up for him. That seems reckless.

#5 + #107 = 1780
#10 + #39 = 1810

We're already overpaying based on value there and Jax reportedly wants more? Adding #41 instead of #39 would be 1790 which is still an overpay, according to the Jimmy Johnson chart anyway.

Edit to add: what's more, Poles' first FA signing last year was De'Andre Swift for $8 mil AAV, and then we'd be trading up to take a back to effectively replace him? Bad form.

Passing on Mason Graham to take Warren, with Nolen going above Graham? Wow.

To me, this seems like something (Graham's going to fall) that gets injected into the aether and people just take it and run with it, like it's cool or something. How does Graham basically go from a consensus top 5 pick to falling out of the top 10 in a matter of days? I don't buy it. He's arguably been one of the most dominant DTs the college game has seen for decades.

It reminds me of Aidan Hutchinson/Travon Walker. All Hutchinson did was dominate at Michigan, then Travon Walker turns in a great combine and the Jags pick him over the guy who's measurables aren't quite as good but has production for days. Walker has taken some time to develop into a good starter while Hutchinson has been dominant since first stepping on the field. I sure hope the 9 teams above us overthink this but then Poles doesn't if he's available at 10.
It’s just that teams weren’t talking as much til now. Before, the consensus was developed the media. Now, NFL teams value is starting to be factored.

Gladstone seems pretty sharp. Poles seems ehh pretty nice. We'll see what happens.

Impending feeling of either trading up for jeanty (bad decision even though I love the player) or taking Warren at 10 (bad decision and not a big fan of the player)

If Poles trades up for Jeanty then I won't be too happy. And if they're really looking to trade up to #5, I hope they stick to their offer and call Jax's bluff. They've got a shit ton of holes to fill.
Nah I am very good with adding pick 148...Poles is a terrible drafter outside top 2 rounds. If the cost to get 5 is 39 and then we get to move up from 148 to 107 I pull that trigger every single damn time. In essence you move up in 1st rd from 10 to 5 and then you move up from 5th round with pick 148 to 4th rnd in pick 107 and you are giving up is 39???? Yeah sign me the **** up for that deal

To draft a running back in the deepest draft of running backs in recent memory?

If it's to draft Mason Graham or something then I'd be more ok with it but it's still an overpay according to the value charts. No need to add more than necessary when it's Jacksonville who's feet are more to the fire than ours. They could possibly trade down from #10 and pick up more picks or trade down from one of their then 2 2nd rounders for more picks. But they've already for 2 3rds and 2 4ths as well.

This draft sucks..period..and I think Poles knows it and the league knows it. Get Blue chip players period end of story.

I’d just shift to someone like Nolen… maybe Walker is there. Cowboys and Colts are reportedly trying to move up, so those are possibilities too.

Wouldn't saying it is catastrophic be the opposite of downplaying it?

You're suggesting several people - presumably from different organizations - are pretending there is a serious injury that doesn't really exist so Simmons can fall to one (unnamed) team? And you're basing it on how it looked to you on the game film?
No, I said his quick rehab and improvement is being down played. At least we will know for sure today. If the internet doctors and draftniks are correct, there's no way any team will take him in the first round.

Poles made a little comment about players who can help “quickly” in his last presser.

My Poles goes YOLO worry is:

1: trade up for Jeanty as no player in draft will have more day 1 impact.

2: day 2 trade for an edge. Either the Giants or Bengals edge. (Many Bears reporters have commented about Dayo being here as much for interior pass rush as anything)

3: trade down with 3rd round pick. Dumpster dive for OL and safety.

4: trade one or both the 7ths for vets

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. This is such a bad take.

He’ll be a second rounder in this weak draft. Someone will roll the dice that 80% of what he was supposed to be is good enough. He’ll never be a premiere LT in this league though.
