A good move for the Cards in player wise, but the contract is not good.

Berkman to 1st and Beltran to RF.

13 million/year means he has to put up like 2.5 wins/year to be worth it. I think he'll manage 5 wins over the next 2 years, I mean he almost had 5 wins last year alone.

That's blunt overpayment for Beltran

It's about five wins they're paying for over the course of that contract. It's not too long and it's pretty reasonable, so even if Beltran craps out they haven't lost a lot of money. On the other hand, the upside is pretty good.

I have no doubt that magic pixie dust will turn Carlos Beltran back into the guy the Astros got. I can't wait for him to hit .350 with 40 homeruns.

The Reds have spoken to Ryan Theriot's representatives, but nothing is close. “We’re trying to get a hitter first,” Jocketty said, and that hitter would have to be an outfielder according to Fay.

Crisp has chosen a team. The Cubs have had interest, but that may just be it.

Hope it isn't us... no need to block Jackson more. Would be a waste of money.

It would probably mean Byrd is on his way out. The Cubs would not sign Yoenis Cespedes. Brett Jackson would not break spring training. Fonzie will either get traded or bench mid-season (when Jackson gets the call). It could mean a lot. But I don't if it'll be true or not. I'm leaning towards no, but you never know.

I don't think Coco Crisp is signing with the Cubs if his priority is to be on a winning team.
