I did not say I blamed the Bears either. It is just business. However the don't play the sport stuff is silly. NFL teams cut players all the time who underperform to avoid paying their salaries so I have no problem if a guy wants long term security. May the best negotiator win.
I’m tired of injuries being used as excuses. It’s a 100% optional game. You know the risk when you sign up.

Original report made it seem like all the incentives were LTBE. Also it appears to be 10% of snaps and improvement in 6 offensive categories which would be NLTBE as improvements suggests they were not met in prior year. It would only be LTBE if the 10% was independent of the improvement in the 6 categories but that is not how Biggs wrote it. He said 10% of snaps and improvement in 6 categories is worth 4.5m.

Then there is another amount for playing time which would be LTBE if it is consistent with his playing last year and then the playoff bonus which is NLTBE because we missed playoffs last year.

Finally this is saying only 3m counts against cap which would only be true if all the incentives were deemed NLTBE. So someone has it wrong.

Ahhh, that is not how I understood it. I thought the two were separate. I don't think anyone really knows right now, and they are all taking guess's. Be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Great so guarantee contracts then. The reason they don't guarantee contracts in the NFL like all other major professional sports leagues is because of the incredible risk of injury. There is a reason you don't see holdouts in Baseball or Basketball really ie because the contracts are guaranteed. So no don't think it is fair for NFL teams to protect themselves against the injury or underperformance risk but then cry when players want security against injuries.

Well just to clarify it is one of 6 categories not all of them but year PFF and OTC have Reiff at 3m cap hit this year so appears all of it is NLTBE.

I think its early to try gleaming contract details out of the semantic structure of a 280 character tweet. Its a smart contract structure if the guesses are right though and good negotiating if they got Reiff to agree to that much NLTBE incentives even if they are likely to be hit (but not LTBE!).

Interesting, I find it hard to believe, but if true he is a steal at that price.

NFL players had their chance. ?‍♂️ Do a better job at negotiating next time then.

Also he’s guaranteed almost 10 mil this year. So let’s not act like star players don’t get guarantees.

No they also have the chance to use whatever leverage they can in negotiations so long as they are prepared to live with the consequences. It is not for you to try and tell them to restrict themselves to negotiating in a manner that benefits you or the team.

And don't be silly, we all know rookie contracts are fully guaranteed but all other contracts are not unless you sexually assault 24 women.

Edit - My bad, maybe be closer to 30 now.

I’m not. Not sure why you think I am.
