It's not that significant though if you're talking over 4 years of a 53 mil guaranteed contract
Look I misread that and my argument that he's taking more than money than he otherwise would've gotten isn't really as valid (I still think overall he should be out there). That said, a million and a half bucks is a million and a half bucks. I don't care how much you're making that's another home or an opportunity for investment. Its not the same as $13.50 and $15, though the "significance" in percentage is no different.

I thought you didn't believe in home ownership?

Does anyone else on this board dig themselves into a deeper hole like this guy?

Preposterous probably isn't the right word to use. He wants a new contract, it isn't about how he's currently compensated, and this isn't an uncommon situation at all.
You can't explain this shit to the madboomers. They think everyone should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and do whatever they're told to do.

Roquan deserves a new deal. This is a tactic to get a new deal. How do people not grasp this, or disagree with this?

and obviously Poles, who is NOT a boomer, and who IS in charge, is okay with it. He PUP'd Roquan to work out the deal (or maybe a trade) so it's useless to whine about it, just like it's useless to whine about the CHICAGO bears playing in Arlington when you're going to become a Soldier Field's Jaguars fan anyways.

So why didn't he hold out last year when the Bears made the decision to fifth year option him?

Oops, my bad. I looked at yearly salary and not total cash. That's on me.

Still, if Roquan Smith would like to be paid like Shaquille Leonard he should start by actually playing like Shaquille Leonard. So far he hasn't.

Outside of turnovers....he very much has.

Leonard has 11 TFL's in the last two years combined....Quan has 30

Roquan is a very very very good linebacker who is a few lucky bounces of the ball away from being considered elite....which he honestly is.

Because that would have been 2 years out from FA. Like your logic is stupid. You crying about him holding out now but then asking why he didn't hold out from last year. The dude played last year and attend all voluntary and mandatory practices until TC. I imagine that was his way of showing he wants to be a Bear and simply wants to be paid what he feels he is worth.

Yea....This is pretty standard routine for players on their 5th year deal.

I rarely see guys sitting out/in before they reach that 5th year or Franchise Tag....

Every player on their 5th year option is negotiating a new deal. If they are getting lowballed expect a hold out. This isn’t rocket science except for the children who just started watching the nfl

Same with coaches. They don't want to go into the last year of a deal as a lame duck coach.

People want job security and Montucky obviously doesn't grasp the concept
