IDK what they want him to say but its a real shitty look when you constantly tell someone to talk to someone you and they know they cannot talk to. At least with Poles and Jenkins, Poles just flat out says he's not going to talk about it. No beating around the bush. Just right to how it is.

Of course it's something to write a story about. They're the media. They work for newspapers and major sports publications to bring info to us, the fans who want to know things.

I think everyone is tired of George McCaskey's yes-men never telling anyone anything. Its just non-stop bullshit and lies and it never results in any type of on the field success. Their lack of transparency to success ratio is like 1000 to 1.

Im sorry to inform the fans who defend these guys for whatever reason but the competitive advantage is a myth. It truly is. It's an incompetent ownership group who usually hired incompetent executives to run the team. The more secretive they are, the less ammo smart people have to fire upon them with. The only advantage they have is to save their own ass because it certainly hasn't helped the Bears the last 20 years.
I think the media needs to ask better questions. And they bet not dare hide being "well the fans wanna know".

They have a right to ask w/e they want, but asking the same "Are we there yet?" questions over and over -- whether you think you deserve an answer or not -- isn't good for anyone.

What other front office or coaching staff would have let Roquan speak or given details to your satisfaction? Probably not any of them
I don't need to hear him speak. I would like for them to either say he's not available to speak or say themselves that they just wont discuss it, like i mention Poles doing with Jenkins because at least they aren't sending the media on some wild goose chase. It's insulting to tell them to do something you know they cannot do.

Flus did say that he wouldn't comment on it further because he hasn't talked to Ro about it

I presume the backloaded actually means he is getting less per year over the first 3-4 years tham Leonard or Warner.

Keep in mind Leonard is going to take home about 20m a year over the first 3 extension years
But again, this doesn't really mean anything. If the total guarantees are in line, it doesn't matter where it's allocated.

There were a bunch of different questions asked. Things ranging from how many snaps will the starters get on saturday to asking Flus about what traits does he have that makes him believe he can manage a football game, which is entirely different from just managing people at practice. There's like 4-5 practices a week. How many times do you want them to ask about the HITS principle and the clunky offense's schematic progression? I'll give you the answer right now. "There's been some improvements but it's still not where we need it to be. We'll figure it out."

Sorry if you dont like it but the biggest story right now is Roquan. Their best player just put the front office on blast and turned this into a national storyline. He is off the pup and should be practicing and isn't. They are doing their jobs.

Nah it's not that I don't like it.. I just don't care. At least not at this point. Why drive yourself crazy until something actually happens?

You can talk about it, and keep asking questions about it... but there comes a point when you just need to be patient until something real happens.

I don't understand the logic behind this. Today is different than yesterday. He is off the pup and actually has to practice now and isn't. This brings in new questions about discipline and how to manage the rest of the team with their leader on D being defiant.

Sitting around waiting for a conclusion isn't how any of this works. You could do the same thing with all of the questions you want answers to. Want to know about schematic progression? Wait until week 8 of the regular season.

I disagree. And I guess I don't really know how any of this works, like you said. But personally, I would rather get answers to questions about guys that are actually practicing like Ebner, Newsome, Borom, Schofield, Reiff, Jenkins, what WRs have caught his eye... Maybe what offensive players he would worry about from a defensive standpoint... I've got dozens of questions that are way more fascinating to me. It would also be nice to hear from those guys on how they are holding up from the horses mouth.

.. and less questions for answers that they aren't going to get or are straight up unknown. BUT I realize the soap opera thing is big business. Allegedly.

Sorry if i missed that between the 8 times he said "talk to Roquan".

Yeah that argument is just BS. It is clear Flus told reporters to talk to Quan and then they later said Quan is not available.

They have been straight up prior to this but it is clear they are mishandling this at the moment. No biggie as they can right the ship but the need for some to blindly cape for Bears management is astounding.

If they had no intent to let Quan speak then Flus should have said that. It is also absurd to go into that press conference without having talked to Quan or gotten on the same page with Poles and the PR team if they are the ones deciding whether Quan talks.

Not quite. Few contracts guarantee the 3rd or 4th year salaries of a contract bur depending on how it is structured it may be difficult for a team to cut a player in the 3rd or 4th year. In that case the player is likely to earn that salary.

So in addition to the guarantees it is really about how much money a player can expect to earn in the years of the deal he expects the team to honor.

So again the 60m+ Leonard expects to earn over the first 3 years isnt all guaranteed but he knows the Colts are unlikely to cut him before then.
