Yeah that argument is just BS. It is clear Flus told reporters to talk to Quan and then they later said Quan is not available.

They have been straight up prior to this but it is clear they are mishandling this at the moment. No biggie as they can right the ship but the need for some to blindly cape for Bears management is astounding.

If they had no intent to let Quan speak then Flus should have said that. It is also absurd to go into that press conference without having talked to Quan or gotten on the same page with Poles and the PR team if they are the ones deciding whether Quan talks.
Exactly. While i still don't like all of the mysteriousness surrounding it all, id much rather them just flat out say they won't discuss it. Its no more of a poor look than it is to tell them to talk to the people they cant talk to and now Roquan doesn't have social media to tell his side either.

I disagree. And I guess I don't really know how any of this works, like you said. But personally, I would rather get answers to questions about guys that are actually practicing like Ebner, Newsome, Borom, Schofield, Reiff, Jenkins, what WRs have caught his eye... Maybe what offensive players he would worry about from a defensive standpoint... I've got dozens of questions that are way more fascinating to me. It would also be nice to hear from those guys on how they are holding up from the horses mouth.

.. and less questions for answers that they aren't going to get or are straight up unknown. BUT I realize the soap opera thing is big business. Allegedly.
Again this is where we have to go back to agreeing to disagree. I dont see the point in asking about guys like Ebner, Newsome and Borom. They are likely depth pieces and i think a better time to ask about them is after seeing what they do in the pre-season where they can put some real tape out there. Jenkins was spoken about and Scho and Reiff are still getting acclimated. Im not sure how much you expect to be said about some of these guys at this point.

It's not soap opera. Its meaningful questions. You mentioned Potash earlier and i think he asked some pretty good questions. IDK if this was part of that post i said i deleted or not but i mentioned how people have kind of lost track of how much of a question Eberflus is himself in the grand scheme of things. We forget that this is a guy whos going to have to manage a game. Nagy is gone but we've seem to forgot that they are looking for their answer at HC. I feel like asking him about how he feels about his ability to manage a game can be much more substantive content wise than asking about a swing tackle or a 3rd string RB.

So if I got that straight he was saying he’s just sitting there chillin but the cops say he drove it to that condition?
As your attorney I advise you that if a cops finds you drunk and napping in the driver's seat of your car while parked on a public street, you will absolutely get charged with a DUI even if you never actually drove the vehicle in that state.

IDK what they want him to say but its a real shitty look when you constantly tell someone to talk to someone you and they know they cannot talk to. At least with Poles and Jenkins, Poles just flat out says he's not going to talk about it. No beating around the bush. Just right to how it is.

Of course it's something to write a story about. They're the media. They work for newspapers and major sports publications to bring info to us, the fans who want to know things.

I think everyone is tired of George McCaskey's yes-men never telling anyone anything. Its just non-stop bullshit and lies and it never results in any type of on the field success. Their lack of transparency to success ratio is like 1000 to 1.

Im sorry to inform the fans who defend these guys for whatever reason but the competitive advantage is a myth. It truly is. It's an incompetent ownership group who usually hired incompetent executives to run the team. The more secretive they are, the less ammo smart people have to fire upon them with. The only advantage they have is to save their own ass because it certainly hasn't helped the Bears the last 20 years.
So is your position that Eburflus and/or Poles are incompetent or that they take orders from above to not to be transparent?

This actually happened to a coworker of mine when we were doing the phone system at UNR. Dude got wasted.......drove to the campus....parked the car and fell asleep. Cops woke him up a couple of hours later and charged him with DUI because the keys were still in the ignition even though the engine was not running. He pleaded innocent and the judge called him an idiot (which he was and is) and found him guilty.

What do you mean by Eberflus and Poles incompetence? Are we talking about on the field or at the podium? Because they can be incompetent at their jobs while also following their boss's non-transparent policy during pressers, which i fully believe they do.

Pretty much.

That's how it works in FL too.

So Roquan put the team on blast via Rapsheet. The Bears responded by removing him from the PUP list so he can be fined if he continues to hold out?

Seems like a perfectly reasonable response to me. Letting him exert leverage thru the media while shielding him from fines would be…well, stupid.

Poles said everything he needed to in his presser without insulting the player.

I’m not giving Roquan a platform to speak when he’s already established a public outlet. Why give up your leverage in any way?

It’s not a great situation but Poles is handling it just fine. As HC, it really isn’t something a Eberflus should get involved in.

There’s plenty of time for this to work itself out.

Sorry if i missed that between the 8 times he said "talk to Roquan".
He actually said as to why RS didn't practice, " you'll have to ask him, I have not talked to him about it."
Asked what he accomplished by standing out there at practice..."you would have to ask him."

Not sure what else you expect him to say, he is not speculate on Smith's motives or stick words in Smith's mouth, nor should he.

As for the Bears PR department not making RS available to the press, that is 100% Roquan not wanting to talk to the press. I am sure he is aware they want to talk to him and they have presented to him that the press wants to talk to him and he wants nothing to do with that right now. If he asked the Bears to talk to the press even though he didn't practice, they would surely oblige. Could you imagine the shit storm if the Bears tried to impose a gag order on him?

Plus, if he wants to answer any of their questions, there is nothing stopping him from calling his own press conference. I mean he has already said the Bears don't value him, are trying to take advantage of him, are negotiating in bad faith, and wants to be traded. It's not like he is afraid to say something bad about Poles or the team.

Basically you have a coach that isn't going to speculate about a players motivation that he has not talked to and a player that, other than putting out a crafted statement, has no interest communicating with the press.

I'm honestly not sure what more i need to say or what is so complicated about all of this. For the 10th time, i expect him to not tell them to speak to someone he knows they cannot speak to. Could Roquan hold a press conference? Sure. Likely? Doubtful. I'm not saying he's being gagged but Eberflus is there to answer questions and he's deflecting them to dead ends. Even Adam Hoge called it out. I'm not asking him to speculate. Just tell them you aren't going to answer the question. Simple.

Maybe Im missing something... What exactly did they ask Flus that he could've intelligently answered, but didnt?

I think Flus is thinking they can ask Roquan by other means other than him at the podium at Halas Hall...

If you see them coming, throw the keys out the window without them noticing. It's an out. Of course if you're asleep. But really, if in the position drop em behind the back tire before the nap.
