My favorite teams
As much of a Fields fan as I am, I don't disagree with this take. Thankfully, the draft isn't until after the season, so we get an entire season(fingers crossed) of Fields with this new offense to evaluate where he's at.Completely missing the point.
It has nothing to do with “giving up on Fields”. It has everything do to with the importance of the position and availability. If you’re on the draft board and a truly elite QB prospect is there AND you’re not 100% sure you have a top 5 QB you need to take the guy and sort it out later.
How is it that Bears fans in the year 2022 after decades of being god awful at the position still don’t understand it’s importance?
You don’t get many chances to draft these elite QB’s. You can go a decade at a time and not get another chance. When its there you take it and sort the rest out later.
If he has made huge strides and is looking like he's the guy, you draft a WR. If there are still big question marks, and Poles' QB is there, you take that guy.
I'd much rather we get the best WR in the draft and pair him with Fields, but if Fields isn't trending upwards big time by the end of the season, you have to think about that position and consider drafting another QB. We have to get the QB position right or we won't compete. This is how the NFL works now.
