Used by itself as the sole gauge of a players offensive value, yes it is pretty meaningless.
Any stat used by itself is meaningless.

Not true. OBP, OPS, and wOBA all can be used by themselves.

Sometimes you can have an empty OBP. The OPS is a nice guideline but the fact that you're adding two numbers with different denominators is wacky. I agree about wOBA though.
Completely false and I've already been over this with your dumb ass.
Please quit talking baseball.
You're hurting the sport
wOBA is a subjectively adjusted metric and not a "stat"

I think Tango uses large datasets to adjust each weight. It's not an official statistic but it is a useful metric to measure a player's offensive production.

I really hope you post some of the garbage you do to get reactions from users. If you actually believe the shit you say on here, you should make sure to stop watching baseball.
I'd like to see one example of wOBA being inaccurate.....
BA is accurate too, but that doesn't mean it should be used alone in judging a player. It should be looked at, along with many stats and metrics when evaluating a player.
It's silly to just say one stat/metric is the end-all, be-all for evaluating player.
The argument isn't whether or not wOBA is accurate. The point I'm making is just because it includes a lot of things, it doesn't mean it's the only metric that should be used in judging a player.Thats the thing about wOBA, it DOES include everything. Read about it... It covers everything offensively.
You'd have to check their numbers to see how that player got their wOBA but it'd be correct in scoring the player's production.

No metric or stat alone should be used to determine to judge a players greatness and worth.
I have been gone i dont know how many months and you guys are still arguing over the SAME EXACT SHIT!!! Lets drop the stats arguement and get back to winter meetings.... I have to get my fix of where Jason Kendall is gonna go!!!
