What if the Yankees kept Babe Ruth as a pitcher only?

Is Otani a better hitter than pitcher like Ruth? Apples and Oranges when comparing eras BTW. He'd be better in the AL where he could DH on his off days, IMO.

So, how many teams can afford a 10/300 on 1 player?

I don't even think the Yanks can pull that off.

That said I don't see Theo going over 200 mil myself. He didn't go there with Tanaka and he was more accomplished when he came over.

At the end of the day is they do not need to do it. Sure kick the tires but they didn't build this team making huge gambles and to add to it Theo got burnt in Boston doing it.

Just saying. I think if he were like a middle of the rotation guy and an awesome hitter, then you play him in the field. If he's 2nd only to Kershaw, I just would hate to see him get hurt diving for a ball or some shit.

102.526 MPH. His slider was wipe out also. Seemed like he had a so so curve that he tossed. But his 2 pitch mix was over powering.

To me you offer him whatever it is he will get and hope he chooses the Cubs... if he does you figure out how to best use all of his talents... someone said gamble, but Ohtani to me is less of a gamble than others because you have a shot at a star as a hitter OR a pitcher... in some freak scenario both and then you have a once in a generation kind of player...

This right here should tell you their not going to fork up 300 mil for anyone....

Why unless Chapman and Fowler take a team friendly deal we can say goodbye to them and we won't be signing Jenson either...

Because they won they can stay as is and pretty much focus on bringing in pieces (SP) for 2018 going forward...

If there a big fish of need in FA after 2017, they can be in good position to go after him, especially with some Of their own players coming off book then..

Not including Arbs, here their commited salary amount

110,619,048 in 2017
$84.120 in 2018
$75.953 in 2019
$47.667 in 2020

They pretty much said they are looking to add either Coco, Bourn or Jay to platoon with Almora. Then they have Schwarber and Heyward. Szczur as a RH OF bat. This opens up Soler for a trade.

So you could see them signing Bourn as he has the highest upside as a lead off. Then they trade Soler for a closer. Then let Montgomery start.

Theo pretty much said last offseason was a 2 year spending budget as the market this offseason was looking thin. So a trade is more likely with minor F/A adds. You may see a retention signing if anything.

Bourn or Jay have no business in this lineup.

Jay: .291/..339/.389
Bourn: .264/.314/.371
Crisp: .231/.302/.391

And picked a winner there

If not Fowler....

I like Jon Jay

Besides his numbers being good

He 31, so they can offer a 2 or 3 yr deal and after this season he can be the 4th OFer

He would bring a good glove

He former teammate of Heyward, so they played in OF together.

didn't see this discussed anywhere else, but how much would it take to get Sale off the white sox?

interesting video. Just wonder how some stuff plays here. They are so much more about the show there, where the emphasis here is to speed up the game. Tip the hat each foul, rosin between pitches, and even though its all foul contact, its still contact that bats here will be on. Basically its hard but real straight. The rest of the changes here are realizing that in the league over there, they basically travel the distance of the ball clubs in California and Arizona there. There is no 2000 mile trips across a big country, just lots of differences that are what makes the domanant look borderline here.

He makes sense if they are looking at a longer option.

Coco would be a 1 year option but he has been on the decline sense he turned 35. To be honest he would be a bad option in a lager share of a platoon.

Bourn is the middle option. He may have something in the tank still and is a prototypical lead off. He has been in a decline but could find value like Fowler did in his tour.

He was used in relief so you could tell by the reactions that he was gunning harder than his norm. In a starter role pitchers have to manage themselves more. 70% effort vs 100% in shorter stints.

I was thinking the same. Sox look to be going into a rebuild and are probably going to offload Sale and Quintana

Any prospect deal would center around Trevor Clifton and Ian Happ. Sox would want 2 front line prospects and you would expect either Happ or Jimenez. Clifton has impressed enough to take over as the top arm. Add to it he is close enough to the majors to be a viable impact trade chip.

Then you would expect B list types added in. This would depens on the Sox's needs more than anything. But I'm thinking Mark Zagunis and Jose Paulino
