So, I dont know if this is brought up but Otani wont be allowed to come here for 3 more years. The CBA moved it from 23 to 25 which affect Otani.

Looking like McCutchen is being traded to the Nationals. You have to wonder, at least in the short term, if the Pirates will continue to be a contender in the NL Central or if it's the Cubs and Cardinals and not much else. I do like what Milwaukee is doing but have to figure they're at least a year or so away.
Reinsdorf wont trade with the CubsHow about in a deal for one of the White Sox lefties?
For who? Last I saw is they wanted the Nats top prospect.
So, in summary: The new rules are great for owners and teams who don't want to pay international talent big dollars, and horrible for those of us more interested in seeing the world's best talent -- including Otani -- join the majors as soon as possible while also making their market worth.
While I love what Baez can do defensively, this would be a great time to trade him if you can use him to headline a deal for an arm like Archer. That's good value for the Cubs in terms of the long term, especially if you can hang on to Happ and Eloy.

The Cubs could avoid trading Baez by doing this:
Tb sends Archer to Cubs
Cubs send Arrieta to Red Sox
Red Sox send top prospects, Cubs send lower level prospects to TB.
We essentially swap pitchers and get younger and more cost controlled. This way we only have to worry about replacing Lackey after 2017. And we would likely only lose guys that are blocked like Candelario instead of Baez.
It's not unusual for teams in the same city not to trade. The Mets dont trade with the Yankees. The Phillies never traded with the As. Been going on 100 yearsWhich is why he's one of the most over rated owners in professional sports history. His teams are always crippled with in-fighting, dysfunction, public spats, and consistent treadmill mediocrity. The White Sox have missed the playoffs 30 times in his 35 years of ownership.
And while he made one excellent hire in Jerry Krause to run the Bulls (who brought in PJax, Pippen, Grant, Rodman, Kukoc, etc) -- if he didn't inherit the greatest player in NBA history, he'd have exactly one championship ring in 70 years of owning two professional sports franchises.
How about we just keep the gang together and go back to back?
I would trade Baez, Soler, Rondon and Montero for Archer and their closer. This closes 2 needs
This reminds me of a trade I suggested when I was 9 years old. Outside of Baez why would TB want this pile of shit and on top off it you want their closer. Trades need to make sense for both teams and the other team isnt stupid.I would trade Baez, Soler, Rondon and Montero for Archer and their closer. This closes 2 needs
