I would approve of this hire.

I'm starting to come around on my reservations but in no way do I expect this to be real.

Oh, he'll get coverage as a candidate but he will never be a REAL candidate with this organization. Same for Harbaugh. They are on the *public version* of the short list but not the *real* version behind the scenes.

For those hating on McDaniel tell me all the bad shit that would happen if he became HC?
Players don't like him.
Players don't play for him.
Players sit out.
Bad press.

You know, all the same shit as last time. I'd be fine with MCD FWIW. But you asked... so...

He was my top choice when we hired naggy. But I can’t get over how he fucked over the colts. There are too many options out there to go with than this flaky ass pos

They sure like him in NE.

Maybe he was young and just screwed up in Denver? People do evolve with age. ?‍♂️

Who’s another option that’s as good of an offensive play caller ?

There are plenty but the trick is which one also is a good head coach not just offensive play caller. And that goes for mcdaniels also

Michael McDaniel kellen moore Brian daboll leftwich

how does that even help you?
Because as much as a I like some of these guys I don't think any of them have McD's extensive history of success as a play caller. That's my point. There's some guys who've had a good run for a few years but JM has done it for a long time now. I have ZERO doubts about his coaching ability. Any of my doubts are of the "leadership" variety.

Bill was way better in Cleveland than Josh was in Denver, and didn't back out of a deal the day before.
Technically Belichek backed out of the Jets HC after initially accepting with a secret handshake deal with Kraft to coach the Patriots.

Same shady shit.

it was a little bit of a different situation, Shanahan was loved in Denver. I think most players knew that Nagy was in way over his head so there is not going to be any past HC loyalty for him to deal with in Chicago like he dealt with in Denver.

Bottom line here is his offensive scheme works and works well. All the excuses in the Jones vs Fields thread where Jones has such a better OC and scheme.. well why not give that same advantage that Jones had to Fields?
