Because as much as a I like some of these guys I don't think any of them have McD's extensive history of success as a play caller. That's my point. There's some guys who've had a good run for a few years but JM has done it for a long time now. I have ZERO doubts about his coaching ability. Any of my doubts are of the "leadership" variety.
But factoring in what he did to the colts should be factored in as well.

You have all been waiting for it and here it is:

Josh McDaniel: terrific offensive mind which is exactly what our new QB, that cant read a defense needs. He has been trained for years by the greatest HC in the history of any sport. He will bring disipline, order and purpose to the rudderless Bear's orgainization. He will be able to attract quality assistants. He is the closest thing to a visionary available

Or we could pick a defensive guy like Flores or Fraizer and our offense can languish for years
A quality choice on paper but am also reminded that "offensive visionaries" don't have a great track record here.

Who gives a shit? Honestly, why the fuck does this even matter? If he's under contract he's going to be the coach. Just don't call a press conference until he's under contract. That's literally the only thing this affects.

Please tell me you are being sarcastic
no...

the Bears literally stated they are making a diversity hire.

Now whether that is is both the GM and HC remains to be seen.

My gut tells me they will hire a black GM and let that GM select the HC...

I am not here to criticize the hire, just to point out what I think the Bears will do.

Being diverse does not mean just hiring a black person.

This was Ommy’s choice when the Bears hired Nagy as well.

Players don't like him.
Players don't play for him.
Players sit out.
Bad press.

You know, all the same shit as last time. I'd be fine with MCD FWIW. But you asked... so...
Nonsense. The NE players are playing their hearts out for him duh

Really Omelet the first guy you choose is the one who quit on the last team he tried to coach? Without daddy, Belichick to guide him will he give up on us too if things go sour like they usually do in Chicago? Figured you would pick someone that has less drama to his name but your a drama queen so it makes since you chose him.

For those hating on McDaniel tell me all the bad shit that would happen if he became HC?
Okay.
  1. Denver - It already happened. He was a horrible leader and that's largely regarded as the darkest time in Broncos history.
  2. Colts reneg - He actually called coaches from other teams, got them to resign, then backed out of the HC job leaving the team he was assembling to fend for themselves. Again, shitty leadership.
  3. Colts rumors - the rumors are that Ballard wasn't giving him as much player authority as he wanted and decided to stay with the Pats (after getting a raise which gave him an entry head coach salary). My question is what has he done to earn personnel authority? Only a small number of experienced coaches can actually succeed with that much on their plate and his resume gives him no right to expect that.
  4. Belichick coaching tree - Love or hate Bill, he's a master of getting the most out of the people around him and that includes his coaches. Coaches that leave there typically get paid, fail then come back. It's such a consistent trend I don't know how people ignore it.
McDaniels is a good offensive coordinator. That's it. Someone doesn't become a great leader. They either have that ability or they don't. There's no middle ground.

McDaniels already had his 2nd chance with the Colts and he burned another franchise

He didn't change one bit from 2010 with the Broncos to 2018 with the Colts. His long time agent even fired him after that.

And we're supposed to suddenly believe this is a different guy now who deserves a 3rd shot? Absolutely not

From what I have been reading Flores has more drama. Seems like an arrogant prima donna

Sorry I don't feel like reading 5 pages before I post this tidbit ......

Possibly McD has been semi-promised the head coaching job of the Pats when BelliPuke retires ??

Yes, but do you wait 5 years for that to happen. It's not like Belicheck has a lot of hobbies

McD did make Orton a statistical phenom for a bit.

We should get McD and Brady. Offer them together 300 million for 10 years and let them split it up anyway they see fit.

Brady can coach or play
