Anybody catch that show, Nova I think it was, where a guy in Africa was devising a way to shock crocs at the river edge, and use a bell, so that villagers can come to the river and ring the bell, scaring any crocs away?

Not explaining it great, but it was very interesting, and seemed to be successful.

Did they put up proper signage by the river?

Doesn't matter as to liability of the resort. A no swimming sign doesn't properly describe the danger in the water nor the possible danger of an animal who can quickly get out of the water and attack someone.

They usually do tell you when checking in to be aware of gators in the surrounding waters. I can't say if they were told this.

Okay. I get your point.

It really is a never ending battle to keep gators out. Especially if Florida is getting a lot of rain which it has this year, gators are constantly on the move.

Also, everyone knows that no swimming signs means it's okay to splash, float, and wade in the water.

Makes sense conceptually. I knew a guy who had a fish pond and cats would come over and eat the fish. So he laid a low voltage electrical grid around the pond and shocked the cats when they tried it.

What gets me, is that a pool was withe in a very close proximity to this attack. Why not have your child swim, or splash in a safe area rather than a lagoon at dusk in Florida.

How tall do you think 2 year olds are? Secondly, I wasn't talking about this specific case, but your point is fucking Special person. If someone was wading in deeper water, and something happened, well, they technically weren't swimming. I mean, do you see a no swimming sign and think, "geez, I can go in the water as long as I don't swim?"
I hope you don't provide legal counsel.

Sounds like it. Have any trouble with snake constrictors out there? I seem to recall a couple of shows which talked about how in some places in Florida the big constrictors are actually killing a lot of smaller gators.

That's more of South Florida in the Miami Dade area, and the everglades. I have heard and seen a few were I used to live, but those were normally pets that escaped.

There was like a 12 or 14 foot drop off not far from the kid. Thats why Disney put those signs up. I would assume also why the father couldnt do more to get the kid. Reports I read said the gator had taken the kid to deeper water before the dad got there.

Oh and Hawk, Im going frogging tonight. Hope I catch a gator and the charlie dont get me.

You're thinking of the Burmese Python, that is not indigenous to the area. They are wreaking havoc on South Florida because they don't have any natural predators there.

They will soon with da man eating Nile crocs they have down there now. They do have an open snake season for a time period, where you can go kill pythons
