I cannot fathom.... sometimes women downtown on sidewalks wear heels and I wonder if they will make it to their destination without keeling over or breaking a heel.

How da fuq out in the woods?

I mean-- she looked wonderful in those heels, but I was wondering why.
Sometimes people misjudge what national parks are about and come not dressed for the occasion.
I was hoping I'd come to some random club owned by some Eastern Europeans in the woods.

That never happened.

When I was at Zion NP, we hiked a 4 hour (round trip) trail and finished it around 5:45pm (it was April--so the sun sets sooner), and a dude was just beginning the trail-- by himself. I told him it would be unwise to trek it, especially to lose light in an area where mountain lions are commonly spotted at dusk. He wisely turned back.

It sort of has a chance to be a very bad film directed by Ryan Gosling.

If it has a super natural element to it.... Syfy could pick it up for 2-6 sequels

What a thread! We even had someone try to connect racism into it. Never change CCS.

Original story I read is the child was in the water. Not swimming, but standing in the water. Alligators go for small animals that make noise. I stick to the kid was probably splashing water. Also, if the tourist are feeding them then Disney is lucky this is the first time this happened. Down here is a thing called "Swamp Tours". You used to feed the alligators marshmellows. Well, they got so used to being fed by humans that they started laying on porches in the bayou waiting for a person to feed them. Well, what started happening were people would let their dogs out and the alligators were eating their pets because they would chill until it got food. One time a woman opened her door to an alligator with its mouth wide open. lol She slammed the door and the gator just chilled until she got wildlife and fisheries out there. Well, now, they arent allowed to feed them any more because a string of like 10 dogs were eaten in a short span. Gators dont care. When they are hungry, they are going to go after anything they think they can kill.

Ive been to Disney World like 12 times. My mom was obsessed with the place when I was a child. There was always alligators there. People were always cautious. Well, not this time.

They found the body of the toddler. The news story said he was wading in about a foot of water when the gator grabbed him.

You know what my issues is here now? Foot of water? The parents werent paying attention. You can see gators eyes. They shine in the dark. Its very noticeable. They dont go under water to attack. He probably just floated straight up to the toddler and snatched it.

Not entirely sure about this, but fairly certain the no swimming signs are due to amoeba's in the water and not in reference to the gators. Used to go to Disney all the time and at one point they did allow swimming. There was even a water park fed by the lake water years ago, but following tests of the water and such they ended up closing the lagoon down to recreation. Though I believe they still allow wake boarding and such.

Also, almost impossible to go to Disney without seeing a gator.

Typhoon Lagoon? It was never lake water when I went and that was 25 plus years ago

Armchair parenting from a bunch of dudes on a football message board... Classic.

It's not really armchair parenting if you have kids, and lived in Florida. Common sense applies to having children, as a father of 3 kids under 10, I know every movement and every step my children take a everyday, cause ya know I pay attention to them.

Bigfoot children must move slower than Blacksheep children apparently.

I have two in that age bracket and watch them like a :hawked:

And I can guarantee you I don't know every movement and every step my kids take everyday...

The problem was it was a perfect storm. Small child the size of the animals they like to eat. Night time when they feed. Shallow water on the bank where they like to hang out. It fit every criteria for an attack. Also, if humans feed them they become fearless towards them. It was a super bad idea to have your kid in the water and you not watching the water. i promise that gator showed himself before he attacked. Im not trying to destroy these parents because they are going to have to live with something that will haunt them the rest of their lives and could possibly destroy them as people. Im just baffled that people can be oblivious to their surroundings. You can only guarantee your safety.
