They are perfectly fine not giving into Stafford's demands. More spin. Are you implying that Garoppolo > Goff since he'd he satisfied with one and wasn't with the other? They'd settle while acquiring ammo for the next guy.

Fields has a future in this league but where and at what capacity remains to be seen. He just doesn't seem a fit here. Neither would Hurts.
Spot starter or backup.

If I'd venture a guess, it would be placeholder but I'll let him decide his future. He should certainly be an asset and in the league a long time.

Wanna do me a favor and rename this to a QB Carousel thread? People get triggered when they see my Pookie's name in a thread title and tbh there's a lot of good discussion going on here when it's not people just bitching about people being interested in Justin. Thanks!

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fieldsdoesn’t post a lot on social media, so when he does, it worth taking notice of what he shares and when he shares it.

For example, on February 25 — within hours of Steelers general manager Omar Khan addressing the media at the NFL Combine — Fields dropped a photo of himself and teammate Connor Heyward celebrating a Pittsburgh touchdown on his Instagram story.

Although Fields attached no words to this cryptic Instagram post, outside of tagging Heyward’s account below the photo, it appears to be a positive Steelers memory. That could mean nothing — and perhaps the quarterback is just reminiscing on a fond moment in Pittsburgh — or it could be some sort of hint that he feels he’s getting closer to a Steelers extension.”

I think it would be his best situation right now.

Paying an old Stafford $50m just screams dumb to me, but what do I know?

At vet min contacts Adams + Rodgers are viable but the Rodgers juice isn't worth the squeeze. Right now he's +100 on DraftKings to go to the Rams.

Wilson is -125 to sign back with the Steelers suddenly which lines up with the Kaboly report from earlier this weekend.
I don't know. He's old but would now be an extra year removed for his achilles injury. At 40 that problably takes more than a year to be all you can be.

I don’t know what your point is here? Who exactly is “triggered?” Statistically speaking, he hasn’t proven that he is anything but a spot starter or backup. I was one of his biggest fans but sometimes you have to go with the stats & facts.

I would definitely sign him if I’m one of these QB needy teams that doesn’t want one of these rookie QBs. Bridge starter isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement but hopefully he ends up in a good situation and proves everyone wrong.

"OMG a Fields thread is 85 pages" is a common post when in reality the majority of the discussion is just the QB situations across the league.

An accurate thread title would help generate better discussion is all I'm saying.

He's also a jackass and no amount of time is going to fix that. McVey is playing with fire if he goes with Rodgers.

"Fields isn't coming back on a one-year deal," Mack said. "Fields is going to have to be signed for multiple years, and probably at a decent price, or at least a good bit more than he was making [in 2024]."
"You have the argument right there, man," Kaboly said. "What you're saying is, 'This could fall through very quickly if [the Steelers] want to go that route.'"
"If they're going to try and go stop-gap again, Fields isn't going to have it," Mack said. "Fields wants to be told that A - I'm the guy this year, and I don't blame him for that, and B - he's going to want a deal of more than one year because he's going to get that somewhere else."

Cousins not hitting the market only strengthens Fields' position. I also haven't heard anything about Darnold which is a bit peculiar.

Don't hate it if they're looking for a low risk play behind a vet.
This dude has weak sources. He was basically saying Ben Johnson to the Raiders was all but done... and Ben obviously wasn't even close to going there.

I think Fields with Kelly is actually a really nice fit. I hate that roster for Fields, but the scheme is probably a good fit. That said, I guess Wilson has some of those qualities if they really feel they can save his career.

I agree with you 100% on the Raiders but I wonder if Fields is going to be too expensive for them - they appear to want to play a bit of moneyball at the position

While we're talking Wilson - the Colts would be a nice landing spot for him.

Too expensive? He will probably get a sub-10 million one year prove it contract. If $10 million is too expensive, then he is pretty bad.

I don't even know what to think of Wilson anymore. The Jets were so shitty that maybe there is something there, but he looked pretty awful. But yea, I think the Colts actually have a good-ish roster. Anyone that can get a shot there should look decent, except Richardson. Richardson is pretty awful.

The Raiders need a quarterback and might not end up being in position to take either of the top passers in this class. Though it's irrelevant to the Raiders' financial situation -- Las Vegas currently has nearly $100 million in cap space -- Justin Fields shouldn't cost much, and something feels right about pairing the playmaker with Pete Carroll. Perhaps it's memories of Carroll's success with Russell Wilson in Seattle, or maybe it's offensive coordinator Chip Kelly's recent run of success with Will Howard at Ohio State. Either way, I feel like this might be the perfect scheme and situation for Fields to use his natural talents and try to claim a starting job in the NFL.

I gotta admit, although I had him going to the Jets.... the more I think about the way Pete Carroll supports his players/his mannerism/his patience - the Raiders just might be the best fit for JFields.

Carr has a ton of arm talent with a super quick release. If he only...

I wasn't high on him coming out - but he's got a quick release, will be cheap and the Jets have pulled the same bullshit with their young QBs that we have (poor development plan and a complete lack of infrastructure) so maybe it clicks in Indy for him. That Indy spot is ripe for somebody to make something of themselves if Richardson can't stop hurting himself.

Odds moved pretty substantially for Rodgers to the Rams - he's now even money or better to land there. If he's on a vet minimum contract and Adams is too - that's such a worthwhile bet.

The Fields talk has been non-existent but the Jets make sense. They're not going to go for Stafford or Darnold. You can't win with Jameis and his pick 6 addiction, no way Jose on Daniel Jones there.

Giants want Stafford but if they swing and miss there they're gonna be in the running to get the top pick (presumably for Ward). That leaves Cleveland in no man's land.
