If the police were as inaccurate and as weak willed as Trubisky, we wouldn't be having this conversation
Nah they definitely do. I was on the U-Bahn in Berlin and I saw a vagrant who was high off his tits and disruptive-yet-not-violent get his head slammed against the ground then dragged off the train by two very large cops. No altercation, no asking him to leave...they just fucked him up and pulled him onto the platform. Don't know what happened to him after that.
Thumbs up for getting Trubisky into a conversation about authoritarianism and police brutality. Well done.If the police were as inaccurate and as weak willed as Trubisky, we wouldn't be having this conversation
What percent of arresting officers do you think go "all Rambo" during an arrest? Ill guess its probably less than .01 %
And of those '01% id bet that over 75% of those are warranted.
I dont know these stats. Im literally just guessing.
Well yeah I've been stopped by cops in America and found them to be polite. Same goes for cops from Johannesburg Metro, Albania, Singapore...I've never had a problem with any police in any part of the world. I'm just telling you that if you act out in these places (well not Jozi since they just don't give a fuck) that retribution from law enforcement is swift and violent. Way more so than America.I have been stopped by cops in Germany and found them to be polite. So yeah anecdotes are not particularly informative
Germany has generally been a bit tougher on rooting out bad cops and better at training.
In Germany, Confronting Shameful Legacy Is Essential Part of Police Training (Published 2020)
In the postwar era, Germany fundamentally redesigned law enforcement to prevent past atrocities from ever repeating. Its approach may hold lessons for police reform everywhere.www.google.com
Why do you despise Stephen A?The Stephen A is for the expression, I despise the guy. I’m not sure about his experiences but like his facts about being killed by another black guy he himself will be harassed more because he is black with a weapon.
Not trying to offend you but like I said above I’ve heard all of this before (especially on this site) so I’m immediately skeptical. I honestly suggest you don’t let it bother you too much especially if you’re being honest
I dont doubt it. It wasnt warranted when i was robbed at gunpoint for a half a pack of cigs and 37 dollars by a black guy. Doesnt make all black guys bad. Beaten by a cop but doesnt make all cops bad. Attacked by a Mexican guy with a knife and beaten with a tire iron by three other Mexicans. But not all Mexicans are bad. The only exception was being attacked by a white crackhead with a knife. All crackheads are bad.No idea but I suspect it is low. It certainly wasnt warranted in my case where I had a gun pulled on me because I was "living black in a white neighborhood."
Ive also had guns drawn on me by the police. A few times. And im white. Although it never bothered me, i knew i was kinda a punk back then.No idea but I suspect it is low. It certainly wasnt warranted in my case where I had a gun pulled on me because I was "living black in a white neighborhood."
This is correct. George Orwell was a democratic socialist, but he was obviously very much against the Soviet Union and authoritarian socialism.I don't know what people think democratic-socialism means, but it simply means socialism that you vote for, as opposed to socialism that comes to power via a revolution. It is a subset of socialism, i.e., they oppose capitalism and want to create a society where private enterprise is forbidden and the means of production are owned collectively, typically through a centralized government.
What people refer to as democratic-socialism in places like Scandinavia or France is what is known as social-democracy, it is not socialism. It's a way to make some socialistic policies palatable with a capitalistic/free market system of economics. Real socialists would never try to do this, real socialism is inherently opposed to any form of capitalism.
So democratic-socialism, as the term is used in America, is a misnomer. They are really social-democrats, not democratic-
socialists.
These distinctions and more are discussed in the the video posted below
At any point during this post did you consider the fact that you're using the same standards to judge police and street criminals? Shortly after explaining that an extra-judicial beating you received from police was probably a good thing.I dont doubt it. It wasnt warranted when i was robbed at gunpoint for a half a pack of cigs and 37 dollars by a black guy. Doesnt make all black guys bad. Beaten by a cop but doesnt make all cops bad. No it's notYeah, actually it is.
Met him a couple of times. Dudes an assWhy do you despise Stephen A?
I have to admit I find him entertaining. But I haven't met him irl.Met him a couple of times. Dudes an ass
Really? Do you mind sharing what these interactions were like?Met him a couple of times. Dudes an ass
Just pointing out that people are people. There are good and bad regardless of profession. At any point during this post did you consider the fact that you're using the same standards to judge police and street criminals? Shortly after explaining that an extra-judicial beating you received from police was probably a good thing.
And we wonder why we have a policing problem.
Thumbs up for getting Trubisky into a conversation about authoritarianism and police brutality. Well done.
@GrimsonBritish and Irish police are pushovers but elsewhere in Europe if you fuck around you will find out. Particularly with the Germans and the Scandinavians. I've seen some pretty brutal arrests made by the polizei, they are not nearly as constrained as American cops. The big difference is their violent crime problem is basically non-existent compared to America's, so they don't have to act like that very often.
I've known you through like a decade of posts but somehow since Montucky arrived under a year ago I feel like I've been dead wrong about you this entire time. It's been a gut punch. No, it means "you're full of shit but I'm not particularly interested in wasting my time by arguing against things that exist only in your mind". Hope this helps.
Sure. As you might know I work for delta and they have private Porsches that take obviously celebs and 360 members to their flights to avoid public eye. My first time working in that department I met multiple celebs, The Rock, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry (yes she is fine af @remydat ) and others but Stephen A was my last assignment. He is going to LA and his car is prepared for him. I get out the car to greet him and before I can even utter a word, he says “ Just take me to my fucking flight, I don’t want to speak to you”. Lol so that’s what I did. Maybe despise is too strong of a word and maybe the guy just hates flying but yeah isn’t the nicestReally? Do you mind sharing what these interactions were like?
I see him as a bit of a dope but he is funny/entertaining.
I think @Montucky should give a synopsis of each regular poster we interact with, so that we might know each other (in a non-Biblical, non-troonery sense, of course).I've known you through like a decade of posts but somehow since Montucky arrived under a year ago I feel like I've been dead wrong about you this entire time. It's been a gut punch.
