Yup. I flat out do not care. It was fun to watch.

not you specifically.

but the same sosa fans I have seen countless times on here used to bash the hell out of pujols for his numbers and the possibility that he cheated, yet when rumors swirled that he may come to the cubs, the opinion changed. i love hypocritical fans.

I agree with Rice. Despite what Sosa and others did, they got me interested in baseball.

I'm not a true baseball fan by any means, but I believe that without Sosa, McGwire, Bonds and others, I wouldn't care about baseball.

I don't really care if Pujols cheated either. He was fun to watch too and he was very good at baseball.

I realize it's very subjective, but I don't know who took steroids and who didn't for the most part. So I just look at the numbers and say "Hmmm, this guy seems like he's good at baseball" and I root for him. He's not my friend, he won't invite me to a BBQ, but he's a good player and I like watching good baseball. That's all there is to my fanhood.

im sure baseball would have gotten through it just fine without the era, it might have taken a bit more time, but it would have caught up to itself at present day without the era.

and how can you agree? you were like 2 years old.

I definitely agree with Rice that steroids doesn't all of a sudden make one a power hitter. There's more to it than big arms. Look at some of the other players caught using them. They sure as hell never hit 60 or even 30-40 a year. You definitely need to be a good hitter. Bonds would bat like .330 a year. Steroids I don't think would help out there.

yeah steroids didnt do shit

I'm sure they did something. But that something isn't easily quantifiable. A lot of the dudes listed in the Mitchell Report would've sucked even if they were really on steroids anyway.

I don't waste my time worrying about who did what. Cap Anson was a racist ****. Gaylord Perry did spitballs. Countless players used amphetamines. McGwire did steroids and Sammy probably did too. I simply don't care, as long as at some point they were good at baseball and were fun to watch. I'm okay with that because at the end of the day, it's just entertainment. I wouldn't want my kid to take steroids or anything, but those guys I watched for fun aren't my kid.

Depending on whether you guys trust Mythbusters, but some of my physicist buddies echo their test results

MythBusters Episode 83: Baseball Myths

Corked bat was blown way out of proportion. Fine, Sosa was a cheater. Don't care, was fun. I love my memories. Life goes on.

Unfortunately, Sammy Sosa is still unnaturally white

I can't defend Sammy, but I did stay awake for those steroid seasons. They were fucking awesome. We were lucky to witness it, whether you love it or hate it.

And if you think steroids are gone from baseball, :smh:

A new discrete, designer hormone and/or supplement makes it's way onto the black market faster than labs can learn how to accurately test blood/urine for it.

they PEDs will never go away fully, but I highly doubt we see what we saw during that era again.

Alex freaking Sanchez was the first major league player to be suspended for PED use. We will never know definitively everyone who did and didn't use PEDs during the steriod era.

There is a common misconception about steroids. If I take steroids, I'm still going to be the little white guy I am. They don't do anything. But, if I started working out, then I could get buff. All steroids do are make your muscles heal faster after a work out, thus you can work out again faster. I laugh when players say that <insert steroid user here> was always the first player in the gym and he worked so hard. Yeah, he did, because steroids enabled that.
