Maybe I'm harder on Versteeg than most. His hockey sense seems to be behind the rest of the team. Admittedly, I'm a hater and won't shed a tear if and when he gets traded. For every highlight reel goal, there are 4-5 failed dump ins and missed assignments.

Everyone has their guy, the guy they point to when things go wrong. For the guy behind me every game in 327, it's Campbell. For the guy next to me in that same section, its Seabrook. For me, it's Steeger.
For me, it's McDonough. :D

Yeah, "Spector" had an article about "raining on the hawks parade" since theyre going to lose soo many players.

He compares PITT losing Gil and Scuderi ....2 top 4 DMen for them thier cup year and they couldnt recover....Hawks arent losing that - they're keeping all of their top 4 (if they dont move Campbell)

So he went on to say, they'll lose 2 of 3 then in Sharp, Byfuglien or Versteeg. OK, well they'll still have Toews, Kane, Bolland, Hossa, and one of the other 3 mentioned. So essentially, the Hawks will lose only 1 top 6 forward - with a 20g scorer Brouwer able to fill in.

I also pointed out....PITT went to the cup, lost to DET and then lost Hossa and Malone as FA's - for nothing ....and then went back to the cup and won.

So the team will be different next year...no shit. They'd be different if they won the cup or not. EVERY team will be different...I'd STILL like to see one team - just ONE FUCKING team, with the talent and youth the Hawks have. He couldnt/wouldnt name one - just kept saying all their best "prospects" are on this team, since their so young. As if thats BAD??????

What a douche.

I really do feel like starting to take names on some of these writers just so i remember who said the hawks will struggle the next year.

The rumours that I laugh at the most are annual maple leafs moving to get sharp. Have you looked at their prospect pool, who on earth do we want from them?

If you think about what we'll have guarenteed:

Brouwer Toews Kane

XXX XXX Hossa

XXX Bolland XXX

XXX XXX XXX

Keith Seabrook

Campbell XXX

XXX XXX

XXX

XXX

Keep in mind, added to that we'll likley have 1 of Sharp/Steeg/Buff staying, Niemi resigned, and Hammer resigned. Further, I think it's almost a foregone conculsion that Huet will not be here in some way, shape or form.

Now, looking at our prospect pool, Can we fill the rest of the lineup with 1 goalie behind Niemi who's cheap (Crawford?) 2 bottom-pairing D-men, and (assuming Sharp stays) an inexpensive 2nd line LW, 2 3rd line W, and a 4th line?

Keep in mind what we have...Burish makes I believe just shy of 900k. Fraiser is inexpensive. Bickell is inexpensive. Ladd is only 1.6M on his current contract--which is not much Hendry is inexpensive. I don't think Dowell is that much.

Like many have said, I don't think it's going to be cap hell. Will we repeat, probably not. But you can't say that the above core can't get us back to the playoffs unless there are some major chemistry issues with the fill-ins.

They most certainly could repeat.

again if they are willing to eat Huet.

Huet 5.6 MIL

Sopel 2.5

Versteeg 3.2

There's roughly 11 mil right there.

And that's without Sharp and Buff in there. And either one it's 14-15mil. Although again depth at C I'd keep Sharp hands down.

As for guaranteed you have 14 players under contract right now. So not sure how those few are the only guaranteed.

Rogers took every bit of that from Stans presser on CBH.com. He directly quotes it. LOL!
Not saying they couldn't. I just have a gut feeling that it may take a year from some of the new faces to buy into the system. I'd love a repeat, but I think that it might be 2012 before the next generation comes together and the new faces fully meld into our system.

I do agree in Sharp/Buff/Steeger--Sharp should the the one we don't want to part with of those three.

Here's what I really think is going to happen...

Torch or Haviland go to ATL to be the next coach there.

Campbell gets moved to ATL for a mid level prospect and pick

Huet gets sent down/traded somehow

Sopel gets traded for a low pick

With Madden, Johansson and Burish not coming back - all that frees up 18mil

Then...Versteeg, Buff or Sharp gets moved to get a puck moving defenceman (Kaberle)

With those moves, the Hawks free up a total of 16.75 mil to resign RFA's and keep a similar lineup.

I agree I think Torch goes with Dudley. I don't see him sticking around. Haviland is pretty tight with MacIsaac (all the front office politics), which is why I don't see him going to ATL, but what do I know? Stranger things have happened.

As far as where the boys end up? Throw the bag up in the air. anyone's guess is as good as mine. :D

If the Hawks are going to lose someone in the group of Sharp, Buff, and Steeger I think the one that needs to be kept is Sharp with Buff being the close second...

I think if Huet is still here the Hawks have some serious problems...

There is a possibility Haviland might be going to coach the Devils, since he's from NJ. Torchetti is a pretty sure bet that he'll be in Atlanta next season. There's been talk that Mike Kitchen will be joining the Hawks coaching staff. He was an assistant to Q when he was coaching the Blues.

Does'nt Campbell have to provide a list of teams that he'd go to? If so I'm thinkin The Thrash would'nt be on it.

Yes, Campbell has a NTC, where he can specify 8 teams he is willing to accept a trade to. And they need to be somewhat close to his hometown, since that was one reason he joined Chicago. So Atlanta is out of the question, as is any west coast teams.

When does he supply that list? It would be awkward for me if they had to ask for the list and then him not get traded.
