I love how he hates working with Konroyd. He is a totally different person when calling games with him. I think John and Troy could have Konny on their broadcast without any issues what-so-ever. But Pat just disdains Konny's straightforward, no nonsense approach to color.

Konny provides color commentary, while Pat likes Edzo because he provides drinks with colored umbrellas and bad jokes.

I aint going to read the whole thread but I like when it is Pat and Steve. Pat doesn't do his bad jokes and Eddie isn't there encouraging him.

Eddie is great on national TV if anything he is too anti-hawk biased nationally to the point of it sounded forced.

You get rid of all the silly stupid shit Pat and Eddie do and they'd be great together.

It's the Harry Caray twilight mode of Foley's career we are witnessing. There were years in the late 90s when Harry forgot he was still doing a baseball game, and Steve Stone had to kind of steer him back to the game at hand. It's not to diminish the good that Harry once had as a broadcast but it was a different in those later years. The mistakes came more often, and sometimes it seemed like the in-game play by play became secondary on a broadcast.

Well said. It's too bad Eddie is no Steve Stone, and only steers Pat the wrong way (into giggle-fits).

I think the Hossa-Havlat thing had to be a organization plant, because why would there be a ready made graphic if it was Foley just going off the cuff. It seemed like a case of the org trying to pat (no pun intended) itself on the back for a shrewd move it made (Bowmans). Hossa was the better player then and now, but I think most Hawk fans that were following the team wanted Havlat back. I wanted them both as Hawks too, that is until I saw Havlat's agent tweeting and saw how ridiculous the money was getting offered around by various teams for players.

The Pulford comments started because Steve Larmer's name got brought up, and Steve Konroyd mistakingly inferred that Larmer chose to holdout (contract related) ending his consecutive games streak.

In this instance Foley was actually accurate in correcting Konroyd, even if he saw it as an opportunity to take a shot at Pulford. Foley brought up how things were promised to Larmer, specifically moving him to another team before the season so his streak would continue. Pulford didn't keep to his word (perhaps he held out hope Larmer might reconsider staying as a Hawk, or perhaps he thought he'd get a better offer from another team). Either way the season began, Larmer didn't suit up, and the streak ended. Then the trade finally goes down in Nov of that season and Larmer ends up back with Keenan in NY, the Hawks get Patrick Poulin/Eric Weinrich, but they also have to send Bryan Marchment to Hartford in the three-way deal (and if memory serves me Marchment's wife was pregnant at the time which probably sucked for his family).

I could be wrong, but I thought the "un-official" story re:Foley being let go was he had been "bad mouthing" the organization in circles he shouldn't have been and word got back to Peter.

Oh and I found this in an old founder on a hard drive this was somebody's Havlat Jesus masterpiece, perhaps this was the one you were looking for:

I would love to see this updated with Kane... Hossa is going to stay as Moses.

Too bad Kane can't grow a Christ-like beard like Havlat can though, otherwise it'd work. And he also seems to be losing his hair.

He got all bent out of shape at the thought of the simulcast. Bad mouthing or not IMO he didn't want to do his job any longer. He then went to the wolves and slammed the Hawks who had gainfully employed him every chance he got.

He then came back and forgot how to even do the job he was doing. It's time for retirement.

Watching the game against the preds, he had wrong players names, he was off on a tangent with Eddie while the game was on, and was so slow on covering what was happening, it was a waste of time trying to listen to him and No Check watching the game. actually went to listen to the game on the radio since they actually know what is going on in the game.

Foley needs to go.

At what round of the playoffs does PF/Comcast have to take a seat and stand aside for the network guys? Is it just the finals? He is making me Cwazy.

Crap. I thought last year it started in the second round. Did it change or is it just my bad memory acting up?

Honestly, maybe it was cause I was so into the game, but I didn't notice him as much last night. Seems like since it's the playoffs maybe he's toned it down a bit but who knows. I did notice him seeming to get shaw and saad mixed up at times...

Haven't had to endure Foley yet these playoffs. CBC guys have been decent this series (Millen still sucks though) and I watched the Blues feed last night having no choice and they actually called a decent unbias game (Panger still sucks though).

Seems to be an on going theme with ex goalies doing colour commentary. THEY SUCK AT IT!! I would actually rather hear Eddie than any ex goalie do colour.

Isn't Pang still pissed at the Hawks about alleged poor treatment?

Too bad, I'd love to see Weiderman/Murray get a shot at TV.

Still, his career is complete--give him an ambassador job.

I should say, it's not that I don't think that he's had a hall of fame type career. Lord knows he's been quite the crowd favorite at times, made some hell of a good calls over the years, but at this point he's been all downhill. I'd really like to see him walk away with this while he can still consider himself on top. Because it's only getting worse.

I remember hearing that live. I was wondering how he got away with it. It was also at the beginning of me paying attention to the game of hockey.
