But how long will it take USA Today to see us take that jump out of last place?

I guess, like me, they want to see how much of an improvement the defense makes this coming year.

Forget that we're ranked last, look at the rest of the rankings. There are some really bad ones there.

Don't underestimate the Jets cause that defense is gonna be a beast and they have great WR's and good RB's and a good TE and i don't know if it will be Fitzpatrick or Geno at QB but Geno put up some big games last year especially against our garbage asses and Fitz could play decent when you have offensive weapons like they have.

The Jets will win that divivion. They have one of the best defenses in all of football, a great draft, and solid receivers to help Smith at quarterback. They are in a different league than the Bears.

ND is horrible.
One of the single dumbest things I've ever read on here. Your over the top negativity is either an act or you're an idiot. Either way, you're annoying...welcome to the ignore button.

Oh no, he's an idiot.....

Yep, i think the Bears have improved enough on coaching, improved the D through FA and the O through the draft to be a solid middle of the road team this year. They may start 0-4 but by the seasons end they will have fucked up their draft position with enough wins to be picking around 15th.

They are far from a solid middle of the road team. That is a team with an 8-8 record. This team will struggle to win 4 games this year. They only won five all of last year and by the end of the season they were the worst team in the league. Worst of all, they quit and teams that quit have a very tough time getting started over again because they are LOSERS. The supposed team leader, is their quarterback and he is nothing but A BIG LOSER. Where is the magic pill he is going to take to transform into a WINNER?

ANd where is this notiion that this team's offense is going to be improved from last year? Where is the tangible improvement coming from. I'll give you the defense being better.....SLIGHTLY but no way the offense is better. the offensive line isn't better, and the receiving corps isn't better. They are going to struggle running the ball and are going to miss Marshall bailing out his LOSER quarterback on awful passes to no one in general. They are thin at TE and if they keep pissing off Bennett and Forte, then good luck Fox. This upcoming season is going to be a very VERY tough one.

THe immediate story line after they lose their first 4 or so games will be, OH WELL, this is a rebuilding year. When Cutler folds like an accordion chair, they will likely bench him or put him out on waivers in mid season. They then will strive mightily to convince the paper bag headed minion in Soldier Field that this is all going to end up well with a new quarterback and young dynamic team starting in 2016.

In the meantime, Ted Phillips will keep picking up checks and the McCaskeys will put on Bear jerseys and pretend to give a shit about Bear fans.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Broncos won it all after they fired John Fox? Think that'd be a story:(

BFD, It's USA Today. Worst is a joke. The team was last year as well but we still picked 7th with that trainwreck of mismanagement. Even if ommy's right, mediocre coaching would elevate us and Gase, Fangio are anything but mediocre.

You know that BAD is also anything but MEDIOCRE also:(

Proposition for you. If the Bears win more than 4 games you ban yourself K? If they win less than 4 games I will do the same.

Did he get those green bars from people clicking the wrong button when they meant to dislike him? I just don't get it.

Yes, clicking while they are laughing. Done it myself.

No no no, he already promised to play golf on Sundays instead of watching games, because Jay Cutler is still on the team. Check Gustavus' sig for evidence.

Well I would like to take it a step further. If he is so confident the Bears will struggle to win 4 games he should accept my ban bet. That way I don't have to hear him spew nonsense all season and clamor for shitty OT/G conversions in the draft next year.

I remember back in the 60s and 70s. I was totally nuts on the Bears and bought into the optimism of the local announcers and reporters cause it was all we had. The truth was we were always closer to the bottom than the top. It was never about winning a game but following individual performances like Walter and Gail and Butkus. We watched games just to see if Doug Plank would kill someone. That's no way to follow football. Couple dream seasons in the 80s and mid 2000s, but outside of that just a total shit franchise.

People here pray for change but when they get it they have to reset and end up losing another 5 years. But they never ask if the new regime will innovate or just be an improvement on the old. John Fox may be a great and likable guy but is he the innovator we need? No. So we get 5 years of 7-9 wins and will end up starting over
I too have been a Bears fan since the Sayers-Butkus days. And I really can't disagree with anything you've said here. For the most part, they have been a shit franchise. Like other Bears' fans, I keep hoping this year, somehow it will be different, but that's very rarely been the case. Once again, I have my hopes up that Fox & Co. will turn this team into a winner, but I don't expect to see significant improvement any time soon. As for the Bears being the worst in the league, they were in the bottom 5 already most of last year. Worst wouldn't be all that far to fall. We'll just have to wait & see how it unfolds. But I must admit, I've become much more skeptical and pessimistic due to what's gone on all these years.
