Seeing a few tweets claiming the Jays are the winner, but I doubt they are official.

rumor is, at least 1 darvish bid was "sky" high. may have been "north'' of $50M. again, unconfirmed.

I have a hard time seeing Theo throwing more money at a Japanese pitcher than he did for Dice-K, but I would love to be surprised on this one.

50 mil just to talk to the guy? That's redonkulous.

50 million just to be able to buy his rights. If the team with the winning bid fails to sign him they get their money back.

Jeff Passan adds this helpful tweet:
One GM whose team bid on Darvish believes Toronto's the favorite. Another thinks it's Cubs. One more says Mariners. The point: No one knows.

What's your twitter :shifty:

I don't have one...I just search for things when there is a player movement item I am interested in because it will be on twitter first.

Well that makes it better.

When's the winner being announced? Anyone know? I know the deadline was at 5pm today, but that's it.

The Japanese team has 4 (business) days to accept the offer. That means it is possible we won't know til Tuesday. Most sources seem to indicate that the Japanese team will accept the bid and that the bid is very high. Some seemed to indicate that we might know tonight but sometime tomorrow seems more likely. Ultimately we don't know anything except that by Tuesday it will be announced if the bid for Darvish was accepted.

There are rumors - just rumors from anonymous people - that the Cubs and Jays put in the biggest bids, but the Jays won. Again: just rumors.

@DKnobler Senior Baseball Writer for CBSSports.com is reporting that the Nippon-Ham Fighters are very excited with the bid, and the implication is they will accept the bid.

Kind of hope the Blue Jays get him -- one less player in the Prince sweepstakes

If that were to happen I would be okay with itB but even given the track record of Japanese imports you don't get many chances to get a 25 year old top of the roto starter by just paying cash.

I just don't trust the game translation...Ichiro's been the only real success story. Dice-K, Fuk...ugh.

Dice-K was pretty damned good the first two seasons. Then he broke.
