Maybe I'd do it. How does the salary/payroll balance out with this trade?

D'backs recieving:
13.5M, plus spects' cost when they make majors.

Cubs recieve:
about 9M is 11', but Renolds has a year more.
Then Ramirez is gone, Reynolds takes over for a year and hopefully Vitters can be 3B come late 12' or 13'.

It actually was a good trade idea and makes sense for both teams.

Wait, why are the Cubs offering up one of their best pitching prospects? Do you guys really think this team is a Mark Reynolds or Kelly Johnson away from the postseason? And even with the $9-or so million that will be freed up on the budget, I highly doubt anyone that could be brought in at that price, coupled with Johnson and Reynolds, would make this Cubs team a formidable opponent in the NL Central, so why trade away a 22-year old kid that is still salary controlled and has been lighting-up AAA?

Oh yeah, and I highly doubt the Diamondbacks are going to take on an extra $9 million in salary just because, even with prospects attached, because what they'd essentially be doing is paying a "young player tax" on the minor-leaguers they get from the Cubs in the form of Fukudome's salary. That's not happening.

:obama:

I understand that, but the suggestion was rather dumb, and really overstates where the Cubs are in relation to getting to the postseason.

Minor trade idea:

Cubs get:
JJ Hardy
Alexi Castillo

Twins get:
Blake DeWitt
Jeff Baker
Randy Wells
James Russell

This was a REALLY fast trade, but I actually like it. Castillo can steal and leadoff. Then Hardy have play SS, 2B and I think he will help.

The Twins need pitching and I think Wells will help and Russell will help the pen as a lefty, DeWitt can play all over the IF and I think he could help a lot. Finally, Baker will help them against lefties big time.

This trade had no thinking into it whatsoever. A REALLY REALLY fast idea.
