I'm not going to get into a multi-quote frenzy with you.
Yea, not a bad decision there.

I get it, you ate up what they sold you... I did not like it at all.

That's fair. Everyone has their opinions, and this movie definitely seems to have a number of different opinions.

I have to lolz at the part I bolded though.... they are repeating the plot of episodes 4/5/6, but a repeat of Obi-Wan/Vader would have sucked.

That was a repeat of Obi-Wan/Vader..... Master vs Evil Student... Master has outsmarted his evil student and is just playing for time.... he even lets Kylo light saber him like Obi-Wan did, cept he is force-projecting, so he doesn't die right then and there.

Then Luke's death winds up being a rehash of Yoda's death.... Master Jedi dying on his hermit hideaway planet, vanishing into thin air.

Everything they are making is just a rehash of episode 4/5/6... you do realize this, yes?

I was referencing the cheesy "If you strike me down, I will become more powerful.." blah blah blah thing. If Luke had done something like that specifically, that would have sucked. I get the similarities.

I mean, there are definitely too many parallels and rehashes IMO of the new trilogy(especially with 7, but Abrams was playing it safe), but I would say 8 is a bit more original/less formulaic.

Ready Player One 8/10

Fair warning, I went into this without ever reading the book. I've heard that this is quite a bit different from the book. I had a lot of fun with this movie. It does have it's flaws, but overall, it's a pretty good time. There are a lot of pop culture references, as to be expected. For the most part, I thought the cast did a good job. The visuals were absolutely stunning. If you're going to see this movie, I HIGHLY recommend seeing it an IMAX. Unfortunately, I don't have one close to me so I had to see it on a regular screen. I strongly feel that this is a movie that needs to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

The book's story was better and you could tell written by a guy from the 80s......the movie was ok, but glossed over many things.

Seeing A Wrinkle in Time with the wife. Her choice, so this might be a trap. LOL.. oh well. small price to pay.

Enjoyed the first few books as a kid, even though there are *much* better stories written with basically the same scifi/fantasy concepts. Trying not to see any trailers, because it's one of those books I have high expectations for. Nor would I want to ruin it for my date if things take a negative turn beforehand. If anything, not being religious myself, I have always felt this is one of the best examples of a book tying biblical influence in the background into a sci-fantasy story without ever being in your face. In the same way Tolkien's books are shadowed by pagan myths of old-world catholicism. It's 2018 and Disney, so I can totally see them spinning the story to push an agenda instead of actually telling the story(beyond just an adaption missing key details, knowing full well the movie is rarely ever better than the book. if you know what I'm getting at).

Also hope they don't pedo-mom it, like most young adult dystopian/fantasy books adaptations.

Welp, wont read the thread until after. So anyone seen it? I missed it if you did.

Thought it was pretty awesome. Definitely not an uplifting movie. Sweet shootout scene towards the end. The Olsen twins other sister was pretty good. Would recommend.

I thought she was very good and did not realize she was sister to the twins.

Still think the plot of the movie is disjointed from the message they wanted to send at the end of the movie.

It isn't any good. I thought it was terrible, but if you can look past the young kid that can't act to save his life( I couldn't) then maybe you'll get some enjoyment out of it.

A Quiet Place could've used more story, but it was still effective.

I get to go see that tomorrow night. Pretty excited. I've heard nothing but great things about it.

Blockers is a 4/10 for me

It had some funny moments in it, but to me it was just ok. I was disappointed because it got a lot of positive buzz and I just expected more out of it. My girlfriend really enjoyed it, so I guess that's what matters most since she's the one that wanted to see it. I just don't think John Cena is a good actor

Yeah, thought that was actually pretty random.

The audience experience with A Quiet Place was pretty cool. The first sequence of the film is basically a silent film, so during the first 10 mins or so you could hear every single squeak from the audience. But soon after, everyone set in and you couldn't hear a peep from anyone. I was afraid to even adjust my self in the seat for fear of disturbing the mood. I took maybe 10 sips from my drink the entire movie. At one point when I accidentally bumped my elbow into my drink, I actually got scared for the character on screen.

Sounds like a unique theater experience.

Pyewacket - 4.5/5

I love these slow burn type horror films that utilize long camera takes and atmosphere to scare you rather than try to do it using loud noises and jump scares.

This film hit all the right notes for me. Found it similar to The Witch and The Babadook.

Thought about watching this but was skeptical. Worth a go then?

It's a really slow film man like I said. If you liked The Babadook and/or The Witch then absolutely, if you thought they were trash then I'd pass. The movie is more about a mother and daughters strained relationship, with occult mixed in. I thought it was great but it'll be divisive for sure.

Yep. It was terrible.

Not even worth a rating. That's what we get for avoiding trailers and possible reviews. Going into movies blind can make it more enjoyable if you're in an open mood. A Wrinkle In Time does not, it just gets worse and worse as it goes. It's like the director was a blend of the worst version of M. Night Shyamalan (which is pretty fucking bad), and had the virtue signaling of the Lifetime Movie Network, filmed it on cameras that avoid wide angles, and gave a heronie junkie carte blanche with the soundtrack. Even the wife felt nauseous after watching it, and she is chemically built to enjoy these kind of movies from time to time. That says a LOT.

A Quiet Place was a good movie. It’s a different experience than a typical horror flick. I thought it worked really well. The only issue is, audience members can **** this up for you. I had no issues, but if an idiot brings an infant in, it could ruin the experience.

The Witch was one of the good ones. If you liked it you should check out The Blackcoat's Daughter.
