Finally got around to seeing Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. There were some very interesting decisions made. The movie was tolerable, but again just another bad Jurassic movie. It would have been better if they hadn't had the Franklin character. He was awful
Remember the Titans - 100/10
I think I was watching it on VH1. Whenever I think of my favorite movies or list of great movies, this one always slips off for me and yet everytime I catch it on TV, I don't budge.
Re watched infinity war last night. Still really grouchy about the the absolutely unnecessary spoiler within the movie that undermines all the tension.
Doctor Strange sees 14 million versions of the future play out. Only one scenario ends in victory.
From that moment until the moment he says "we are in the endgame now" and disappears from the snap, Reason dictates that all actions between his glimpse and his "death" are going perfectly according to plan.
Quill derailing them from taking the glove- part of the victorious course... otherwise Strange would have zapped him through a portal.
Thor missing his kill shot- Part of the victorious path.
Thanos getting all the stones, Strange dissolving... part of the plan, otherwise he would not have pointed out they are in the endgame before turning to dust.
Stark is obviously the key to victory, or Strange would not have enabled Thanos to do what he did in exchange for Starks life.
All the "deaths" are inconsequential, Because all will be undone. there is no tension. The predicting the future and "dying comment" turned everything that occurred between the 2 events in to a guaranteed path to victory.
The tension does not start up again until the next movie- when the path they are taking can no longer be verified as the victorious one by doctor strange.
Beyond all that- The movie was well filmed and the fight scenes are improving. Still not as good as they should be, but better than the rest of the movies.
The Thor/guardians dynamic had me cracking up.
Spiderman... a character who i never liked, whos movies i despised in the past, has continued to impress me. I was shockingly surprised by him in civil war, stunned that I loved his solo movie, and loved the way he was played and portrayed in infinity war.
A perfect mix of tough, responsible, insecure, frightened, and excited. Towards the end, terrified and reacted exactly as one would expect a teen to act.
Downey as Iron man is still amazing. I never dug iron man, thought the stand alone movies had hideous story lines and abysmal climactic scenes to end... and despite the awful garbage of a script Downey always made them watchable. In the avengers movies, he steals the show. He is enough of an asshole that you want desperately want to hate him... but he does just enough awesome stuff that it is impossible to hate him.
Decent movie, just shoots itself in the foot with the plot.
Watched the 5th mi yesterday. I think it’s my favorite or tied with the first. I hope I get a chance to catch the newest one if not definitely will order it on itunes
Definitely need a the girls of mission impossible day in the hot or not thread.
Getting three new movies this week. Blackkklansman on Monday, Crazy Rich Asians (I don't care too much about this, but whatever, it's free) on Wednesday, and THE MEG Thursday.

Possibly, I'm just going for some dumb fun. Give me some half likable characters and some crazy shark set pieces and I'm fine. It's a lot more interesting to me than most big budget films these days. And at least it's not a sequel or based off of a comic. Also, it looks self aware of it's ridiculousness which is a good sign.
And I just realized Crazy Rich Asians is apparently a romantic comedy? The screening is advertised like this:
"Girls’ Night Out: Crazy Rich Asians Have a crazy night with your besties and see Crazy Rich Asians a week early on 8/8. Plus, get a free wine glass with your ticket!"
Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to pass on that one...

Saw "darkest minds". One of lines was str8 outta one of the X-men movies ( I was like....' are 'effing kiddin' me'.) Thought the story-line could've been better.
Might see BlacKkKlansman this weekend.....but I may wait. It seems a little goofy ( yeah, I know it's from a real story) Not a huge fan of Spike Lee movies.
