The first half of BlacKKKlansman was pretty great. After that, the plot slows to a screeching halt and zzz...

I know people say that 3rd act snooze fest are common in Spike Lee movies but I don't watch enough to know.

You guys should watch Antichrist and get back to me on what you think. My prediction is the vast majority of you won't be able to handle it. If you're familiar with Lars von Trier you'll know something of what you'd be getting yourself into. Personally, I fucking love that film; but he's incredibly hit-or-miss, in my opinion (Nymphomaniac was shit while Melancholia was excellent, for example).

I saw Crazy Rich Asians because it’s something my girl wanted to see. It might be the biggest surprise of the year so far for me. It’s far from perfect, but it was good and I enjoyed it. I’m not into rom coms either.

The lead actor impressed me. I read somewhere that this was his first acting gig. He was pretty good for someone that had never acted before. I think this is going to be a sleeper hit at the box office.

Melancholia made me feel incredibly ill...not sure why that was but there's something about that movie...

The reason I like some of his work is that it explores the base reality of the human condition; which should be uncomfortable (people are, generally, terrible). Not only are we not perfect, but we're down right loath-worthy as a whole...and he portrays that. If Melancholia hit you hard, you should definitely not watch the Nymphomaniac films (again, a fail in my opinion); but, Antichrist is definitely harder to watch than Melancholia by a wide margin.

I've never had a movie do that to me. That's not to say I hated it, I definitely appreciated it. I'll check out Antichrist.

Agreed Nymphomaniac was quite bad. He is definitely hit and miss, as you say. I wasn't a fan of Breaking the Waves, but Dogville, Melancholia, and Manderlay are all worth a watch. But he's like PK Dick for me. No masterpieces, or great films. All are flawed, but there is something there worth watching and contemplating. Haven't seen any others, and I don't think I'm all that interested in Antichrist, or his new one coming out with Matt Dillon as a serial killer. As I get older, my misanthropy is waning.

Interesting that in 1973 Stellan Skarsgård did a film called Anita: Swedish Nymphet, which has an unusually similar story line to Nymphomaniac.

There's a scene in The Meg where Jason Statham, equipped with only oxygen and a wet suit, hurriedly dives into the water with the shark.

There was no prior plan to do this.

Watched deadpool 2 3 times since tuesday night- hilarious.
The Bad Pitt and Matt damon cameos are great.

Cable is an awesome character. played to perfection.

with each watching, the kid that plays russel gets more annoying. I hate his voice... nails on a chalkboard to me.

Juggernaut looked like shit. His CGI looked like they rushed the movie out 6 months early, or they used up the entire budget and just had to leave him as he was. everything from look to movement to even his mouth synchronizing to his speech was absolutely terrible.

Still, a really fun movie.
