The Bruce Willis death wish is out on prime. It was ok for a one time watch nothing more then that

It was ok as a remake ( of the original Charles Bronson Death Wish). As a movie-goer, it would be nice to see more original themes.

But was it a accurate portrayal ? Don Shirley's family says no.

I don't typically call the subject's family after the movie, but I did try on Sunday. No answer.

Waiting for them to call back.

Yeah, they became friendly, and the white guy "saw the error of his ways" and apparently changed, right? I can't tell if there were inaccuracies, but I assume so with any biopic or true story, and I don't say it was perfect. But it was entertaining, and well made, which certainly puts it ahead of some of those other nominees.

I have Apollo 11 tonight and Captain Marvel Friday. So I'll see Greta either Thursday or Saturday.

I had no idea there was a documentary on Apollo 11 until I saw this post. It was already 7PM, so I quickly looked up times, and hurried to the theater for a 7:15. It opens at the theater I ran to on Thursday, and the Fandango time it showed me was for a theater in Kansas City (I am near St. Louis). Thanks, Fandango!

But I looked at reviews for Apollo 11 and I am very interested in seeing it. I don't expect to see anyone under 50 in the theater when I go.

I know this may sound strange, but I typically like to either read up on a movie or watch previews b4 I go see it (especially when it's based on a true story). I don't like going to a movie and finding out it's totally not up to par and a waste of $$. No I don't call family members:smug2:

While reading up on "Green Book", stumbled upon an article that said Don Shirley's was 'boycotting' the movie
(I wanted to know why). The article went on to point out (via family members) how there was no buddy-buddy relation with Shirley and the driver.

It was a employer-employee relationship. The article pointed out other inaccuracies as well. Bottom line, I decided against seeing it bcuz it wasn't close enuff to the truth. Just didn't have an interest in seeing another made up, Hollywood "feel good movie". But I'm glad you liked the movie coming from the son's perspective of the driver.

I'm not going to go read a book before seeing a movie. I had several people tell me they thought it was very entertaining.

I do know that Don Shirley's family - which got no $ from it - did not think it was 100% accurate. I would think any story told by one of two involved would be looked at as less than 100% accurate by the other.

I don't need a "feel good" ending, and would have been fine without it. But even if the book accurately did not have one (I am not sure whether it did or did not - I am saying even IF it didn't), Hollywood would add it. I am accustomed to that, and I do appreciate the times when the movie does not have that.

But in the end, it doesn't ruin the movie.

What if nobody ever said anything about the relationship? If Shirley's family said nothing, would you have seen the movie?

Yeah, it had almost no press. I'm a huge movie geek and I hardly knew about it myself. I have to go tomorrow because that's the last day for IMAX before Captain Marvel takes its place.

I am trying for tomorrow as well. I don't expect it to be here long. But I want to see it in Imax if possible, and I think it is at the one I looked into.

Please note....I said I stumbled upon a article about Shirley's family view of the movie. So NO... I didn't read a book.
I doubt the family would lie or have a reason to lie about Don Shirley's true relationship with his driver.

Yeah some ppl. told me they liked it too. I also pointed out to them that the basic premise of the movie (the buddy-buddy relation) was not true. Did they now hate the movie? NO. However, They said, they wished they had known about the family's side of the story.

Good question. When I first learned of "Green Book", I thought "Driving Miss Daisy", which I had no interest in seeing. These types of
"feel good racial, coming of age-movies" never interest me bcuz I already know how they're going to end ( i.e. 'oh, some of you ppl. are really ok. Now we can "luv each other", "but don't think about dating my daughter". Otherwise, Problem solved....happy ending ) IMO, these themes are more complex than what's portrayed.

So no, (to answer your question) I wouldn't see a movie like this, with this type of racial theme.

With that said, am I trying to get u to hate "Green Book"?....absolutely NOT. I'm just offering a different perspective based on my quick research of the movie.

Getting shot to hell by Michael Jackson's family, that is.

Nope.....this is not about MJ's family.
Actually it's about the 2 guys who the so-called documentary is about...... being proven liars. They lied while under oath and have changed their story several times about MJ. All this can be found with a quick google search.

I just got home from seeing Captain Marvel. I’d put it in the lower tier of MCU movies. It was good, just nothing special. The effects used to make Samuel L Jackson look younger were really good. If you go in with high expectations, you will most likely be disappointed. I know early on there was a lot of people hyping it up to be something great and it’s nothing close to that.

my wife went to see it tonight and she told me the same. She said she was a bit disappointed. I'll just wait until it's on DVD to watch it or when I can stream it online.

I saw Apollo 11 tonight.

There were five people in the theater, counting me.

I thought it was very interesting and would recommend it. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I will tell you something simply because the few poor reviews on Rotten Tomatoes all referenced the same thing: There's nothing new. And no explosions or superheroes.

It was very well done, showed a lot of the people at mission control and did not include a narrator or current day perspective, looking back. Instead, it included footage from the time of the event only.

Personally, I think it is worth seeing. 100% of critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 91% of viewers recommend it. Those who didn't literally complained about "nothing new".
