I mean I'm gonna lean toward not good, but I didn't hate it. Was pretty much meh.
hey, there's no accounting for taste, but I felt a bit of whatever is the opposite of civic pride when those actors were hamming up their fake accents and telling a boring story. I also hate the Bear, so, **** me.

I thought Furiosa was okay

I fell asleep about half way through, but I had had an edible and few beers. Need to give it another shot. Though sounds like I may fall asleep through it again.

@KittiesKorner not sure if you've seen it, but where would you rank Near Dark on the best films filmed in Oklahoma? Bill Paxton is so good in it. One of my faves.

By Brakhage. Not completely through the first disc but:

I'm kinda down the middle so far. I'm trying to appreciate the techniques he uses to create the images he does and trying to consider the span of his career 54-01 and how those techniques could be considered cutting edge, but it also strikes me as like high school/college I'm too cool for school art house shit.

I always gravitate towards the animated features and/or Asian horror. Kiyoshi Kurosawa has a new movie showing and a 'Grafted' looks like a solid entry in the body horror genre.

'Memoirs of a Snail' looks amazing because I am a sucker for stop motion and 'Flow' looks interesting because I am also a sucker for dialogue free animation.

'The Return' has an interesting premise as it tells the story of Odysseus once he return home from his 20 year travels to **** up some suitors with Ralph Fiennes as the lead, 90s band 'Pavement' gets a documentary of their own and 'Nightbitch' is supposed to be a surreal take on being an American mommy these days.

Not saying I am going to all of these, but they are the ones that jump out most to me.

Just saw Trap and the new Alien movie
5/10 to 6/10 for both
I heard Alien Romulus was decently made. Practical effects are a big plus. Has a decent rating on RT.

Alien 3 was disappointing. Of course, having Hicks, Newt and Bishop be dead (off screen) at the beginning was just dumb and a spit in the face. I think the film could have been pretty fun if they were included in the cast, whether you kill them off during the film or not. I didn't mind the concept, but I didn't like the ending.

After the buildup of Prometheus (which I liked), Alien: Covenant (2017) was a disappointment. I liked where Scott was going, but wow, what a nothing burger.

From what I read director Fede Álvarez wasn't trying to add anything to the Alien-series concepts, just try to make a good film in setting. Did you notice any new concepts in Romulus?

Nope....nothing jumped out at me. Plus the acting was mediocre IMO.

I checked out the trailer for Grafted earlier. Doesn't look too bad. I'd give it a shot. As far as other horror, these two look interesting to me: Fréwaka - Cinema Chicago and The Girl with the Needle - Cinema Chicago

I looked at both of those as well. Memoirs seems more up my alley. Have you ever seen The Triplets of Belleville? One of my favorite animated films ever. There's no dialogue in it, not that I remember at least. If there is any there's very very little. I think the style looks really damn cool:

Fiennes in another? Watched the Conclave trailer and he's in it.

Couple others that interest me: Hard Truths - Hard Truths - Cinema Chicago I'm a big fan of Mike Leigh. Naked is one of my favorite films ever. Small Things Like These - Cinema Chicago

Yeah that's a great one. He did a follow up called 'The Illusionist' that may not be as good as Triplets, but still great...just a little more somber.

I've heard 'Robot Dreams' is supposed to be really good too. 'Hard Truths' looks promising and 'Small Things...' is the one my wife would insist on because she would leave me in a matter of seconds for Cillian Murphy.

Will post if I actually get out to see any of them!

Ah haven't seen that one. I'll have to look it up.

Not familiar with Robot Dreams at all. I'll have to look it up. I don't think I've seen a Leigh film I haven't liked. Cillian definitely has a unique look to him.
