High Noon. 4/5. Some say it was made as an allegory for McCarthyism and I can see why. John Wayne called it "unamerican" which very nearly made me give it 5 stars. Good film.

One of those films being slobbered over for being a "new type of horror". The horror is the need to suspend disbelief that all are trapped in a single house. Then there is the turkey baster, which brings great laughs. Horror movies have been mostly a waste of time for about 20 years or more. Constant new ones touted as revolutionizing the genre, but it is the same old shit. And this film had huge plot holes.

Very overrated. So tired of movies with absolutely no redeeming characters or qualities. Glad I streamed it, and wasted nothing but time.

Is it on Netflix? I have a few hours to kill

Last movie I saw was guardians of the galaxy 2. It's no way part 1 but I enjoyed it. I liked the songs allot better from part 1 and the villain in part 1 was better. But baby groot was awesome. I took my nephews with me it was a $100 outing to fucking go to the movies. How much higher they going to go

Do adults still get scared by horror movies? The last movie that scared me was The Exorcist in 1973, I was 16 years old.

Lol, no. The only times so-called horror actually scared me was the example you gave, and parts of the book The Shining. And maybe the ball bouncing down the stairs in The Changeling, but that was several years ago.

I forgot about The Shinning, that too, I was 23 when the movie came out and that furry blowjob scene still haunts me.

I don't know if it is supposed to be horror, but I find David Lynch's "Eraserhead" very unsettling. Cannot watch it alone in the dark.

Otherwise, the last movie to actually scare me was when I saw "Se7en" in theaters.

(SPOILER ALERT)

When "Sloth" suddenly pops to life on that bed...I jumped twenty feet in the air.

Oh please, what 20 year period had a better horror output than 2000-now?

Torture porn is not horror. I am sorry I hurt your feelings, but most horror movies are complete garbage, in any era. But torture porn has ruined any semblance of story telling in the horror genre.

I know many like to avoid this by creating hundreds of sub categories like gore, horror, torture porn, etc. Problem is, it is all similar, and the bulk of it is shit. Ever since Scream, every new horror film is redefining the genre. It's a dead genre IMO.

And "masterpiece"? That's not used too much these days now is it? Do you also give your mailman a standing ovation?

Currently, the most popular horror films are ghost/exorcist ones like The Conjuring 2, and the most acclaimed ones are unique art ones like It Follows and The Witch, and your summation of it all is....."torture porn"? I also see you provided no answer to what 20 year period was better for horror.

Poor performance.

I was pretty young when I saw it and that (plus the bathtub lady) freaked me out the most.
