Children of the corn fucked me up when I was a child living in a small town surrounded by corn fields.

Four horror/suspense films are some of my favorite films of the past 5 years. Those would be The Babadook, The Witch, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and Don't Breathe. The Conjuring was really good but Conjuring 2 sucked bigtime.

Green Room (watch this if you like Don't Breathe)
It Follows
Let The Right One In
The Devil's Backbone
Cabin in the Woods
Under the Skin
Under the Shadow etc etc....

The idea that what was coming out of say the 80s and 90s was definitively better is a joke. "Torture porn" as some people call it, has it roots in all the trash slasher films that were released in previous generations. What we're seeing now is a lot more respectable and more importantly, interesting. Get Out for example, as I said I'm not a fan of the movie but I can respect the idea and that it's something different.

I saw Green Room, great flick. Saw Under The Shadow, it was really good...the one jump scare early on almost gave me a heart attack. I liked Under The Skin as well.

Cabin in the Woods was more of a macabre gore comedy.

Alien Covenant wasn't to bad. I'd give it a 6/10. It was better than I thought it was going to be

Do adults still get scared by horror movies? The last movie that scared me was The Exorcist in 1973, I was 16 years old.

I was freaking out when the girl started walking through the tv in The Ring

That was a moment. I'm going to have to walk back on my 1973 statement, especially with The Shinning. A more accurate statement would be interesting, well made, genuinely frightening, horror movies are incredibly rare unicorns.

Alien Covenant: soulless film with almost no redeeming qualities. Fassbender gives a good performance. 1.75/5...pure bollocks.

Did you like Prometheus? I know a lot of people hated that, I liked it and have hopes for Covenant. If it really does suck and dies at the box office, that's it for the Alien series.

Yes I liked Prometheus for the most part, I felt it was more a spiritual relative to the Alien series rather than a prequel type film. Covenant pretty much pissed all over Prometheus, you'll see what I mean if you watch it.

Ah, crap. I'll watch it because Alien, but that's a shame.

I'm the only human that has never seen The Goonies. I know all about the movie because I'm not a hermit, just the wrong age.

Hey you guys, there is no way a 60 year old man is gonna like this, right? I mean no point in me watching it now.

If you can get behind an 80's campy adventure comedy I think it would cross the age barrier perfectly. It is Spielberg in his prime after all.
