yes. yes he would have intercepted it if he'd played the ball, since the ball was thrown Cutler-style (inaccurate) to the CB's side rather than the WR's back shoulder, like it was supposed to be.

the Chiefs only gripe could have been that the ball was uncatchable, or perhaps argue (rightly) that the WR was trying to go through the CB to get to the poorly thrown ball on the other side of the CB who'd established position on the inside, which, by definition, would have negated any PI call on the defense.

if the ball was underthrown, now that's a different story. both players can come back for it, and often it's the receiver who first sees it's underthrown.

but a poorly thrown ball to the wrong (defender's) side of the pair of players? that should NOT have been a PI on the D.

Yes is should have. It was the right call because the way the CB slowed down on top of the route. Thats gon get call more often than not.
