Yes, go to the doctor and have them test you for mono. If antibiotics don't help, then that's probably what it is.
I had a horrible sore throat two years ago and thought it was strep too. My throat closed up. So originally the doctor said it was tonsillitis and put me on antibiotics. Four days in and nothing changed. Yup, it was mono. That SUCKS. So get checked.

It took about a month to feel betterISH. It lingered for three months. I took Clindamycin for 10 days and steroids for 2 weeks.
