Tonight !!
so the argument is that because friedman has never worked with a big market he wont know how to manage the team and money?
i guess i could see that...
but he is one of the best if not the best in developing prospects and truly "building" a team
My only thing is that people are too hung up on Friedman and Epstein...won't be surprised if an unknown GM/Asst. GM gets the job.
Considering that they are the two most likely candidates, I don't think that's really a problem. Plus Ricketts has said he wants a proven winner, which makes them obvious candidates.
Epstein is not coming to Chicago people. sorry
Absolutism is the way of the Sith you know
Epstein is not coming to Chicago people. sorry
Why do you think that? The Cubs seem to be reaching out to him and the Red Sox didn't shoot the Cubs down right away...
Not saying you're wrong, you're probably right but just wanted to know your reasons...
Rumor du jour is that the Red Sox would want the Cubs to take on John Lackey in addition to getting Epstein.
Let's be nice here Uman...he at least created discussion without insulting anyone....The prophet NostraChrisJDomus said that Theo isn't coming. It must be true.

No question Friedman has done great things with the resources he has in Tampa. I just think he'd be a bit of a gamble in Chicago. The Cubs should go for a proven winner in a big market. Winning through building the farm system is great and I applaud that in the long run, but it's been 103 years. Obviously there's no quick fix, but a guy like Epstein who has done well in free agency could get the Cubs a World Series in the next few years, while also building up the farm. It's a win-win IMO.
