So you know what im talking about then brett05, More garlic the better for me .

Oh yeah. The polish we get we cook, freeze the extra cooked sausage in ziplock freezer bags and I still smell the garlic in the freezer. That's the old world good stuff. ;)

One time I got spicy garlic polish and it took me like a month to get the funk out of my fridge...
Tasted awesome though.

So the funny thing is, two years ago, I had some, well more than some, and I got sick. I now have bad memories of the sausage even though it could be unrelated. I now eat normal portions of it instead of cowing down on it.

Gene and Jude's 9/10
River Grove

Hotdog & fries $2.99
Went there over the weekend. Still lines out the door. I'm sure most of you have been here so I won't blab about it, but would like to say that Superdawg is better :p

My dad LOVES this place. I was always more of a Paradise Pup fan myself. Is that still there?

I remember asking for ketchup for my fries once, they completely ignored me. It's like they don't even recognize ketchup as something that exists.

I grew up a five minute walk from that place, it was a shit hole back then. Now it's owned by two brothers that went to the same HS as me, they close the place in the winter and go live in their ocean side mansions in Mexico. Paradise Pup is known much more for their burgers than hot dogs, I don't think I've ever tried a hot dog from there.

I know, it's kinda Special person if you ask me. I prefer my dog with mustard only, but i do like my fries with ketchup.

The McDonalds next door for ketchup.

Ok, bought some "Authentic" Polish sausage from this place called SAWA in Denver. What do you Polish sausage eatin' sons of bitches recommend for the best way of cooking it?

hey it's their restaurant. They serve only Chicago Dogs and top only with some, none, or all Chicago toppings. The McDonald's used to get people from Gene and Jude's asking for Ketchup. Now they charge $.25 per packet.

If it is smoked, treat it as you would any hot dog. If it is fresh, you need to boil it and let a lot of the fat render out. This completely cooks it as well. But the color is awful. Very gray. SO I recommend placing it under your broiler or on your grill and give it some color. Not char, but color.

Then a bit of mustard with some rye bread and whipped butter.

Man I'm hungry for that now.

The whole NEVER PUT KETCHUP ON A HOT DOG thing will never cease to baffle me.

It is a condiment people put on hot dogs.

Why does it matter to anyone in Chicago or anywhere else if people put ketchup on their hot dog?

And this isn't a playful hehehe "I'm just kidding around" thing.... people get militant about ketchup on hot dogs.

Honestly there are people in Chicago who get as militant about ketchup on hot dogs as if it were abortion or *** marriage or some other social wedge issue.

It's part of Chicago tribalism.

100% agree and 100% stupid unless.....
You call your hot dog a Chicago Dog. Then that person is dead wrong.

No argument there... Chicago Dog has a very specific set of toppings.

However, I've never heard of a person slathering ketchup on a hot dog and irrationally demanding it be acknowledged as a Chicago Dog.

People get more tribal about ketchup on hot dogs than Cubs/Sox lol
That's because there's no infighting there. Cubs/Sox causes Chicago divide. Hot dogs cause Chicago unity.
