Buffalo Joe's 10/10
Evanston
https://www.yelp.com/biz/buffalo-joes-evanston?osq=buffalo+joes

Had some over the weekend. This is by far my favorite wing place, and if you haven't tried it you really should. I always get the suicide flavor(extra hot). There are 2 main reasons why I like the place; 1)The size of the wings are fairly small compared to say BWW, which I like. I don't like the crazy huge steroid wings. 2) I don't know if the wings go through a baking process, but there is virtually no layer of fat. I hate biting into a layer of mushy fat where the skin just flings off in one chunk and you're left with unseasoned meat. If you ever decide to go there and if you like your wings hot definitely try the suicide flavor. It goes up to triple suicide, I think, but your ass will thank you next day if you just stay with suicide. They also have BBQ sauce for those who like sweet wings.

Joe's Pizza in Wheeling at 68 and Wolf. This place has been around since the 60's and is still owned by the same family. They serve thin, cracker crust pizza which is delicious. Last time I had a sausage with hot giardiniera. 9.5/10

Second this place also. I'm a big fan of their wings

I've never been a fan of the chicken wing thing TBH. So much work for a shitty piece of meat IMO.

This place in in Wheaton, not too far from WC.

A little pricey but great food and drinks.

I drove close to an hour to this place yesterday only to find it closed for the 4th.. FML.
So then I went over to Toda Madre for tacos and they were closed as well...
Ended up eating at a TGI :(
But as an after thought I'm glad they were closed for the 4th. Stores need more closing for the holidays.

Agree, the smaller family places are more likely to close for holidays. Greedy corporate scumbags are the same types that extended Black Friday into Thanksgiving day, they only care about one thing, and that is definitely not their employees.

Good for anyplace that gave their employees the 4th off.

It was, and it was awesome.

Sadly I could only stay an hour and then had to embark on my trek to Union Station.

So all I ate was meats, and all of them were good.

You missed dessert, which was also very good

What, you couldn't take a later train?

I could have taken a 9:50... but I took it the night before and didn't get home until like 11:15 and then it took me like 2 hours to fall asleep and I was back up at 6am.

At least last night I got home and got to sleep by like 11:30.

Side note but we walked to Fogo from our office and then I walked it from Fogo to Union... it was like 1.4-1.5 mi each way.... so I am hoping I burned most of my meat calories lol

For anyone in the Lincoln Square/Ravenswood neighborhoods, we stumbled on to Gather from some friends who live in the area and it was fantastic. Higher end, neighborhood, place by a Charlie Trotter alum. "New Style American", open kitchen, very good beverage program, $25.00 corkage if you want to bring your own, waived if you buy one from the list.

Also went to Dusek's on the same trip and really liked it but though (maybe) having a loftier rep, was not as good as Gather. That is not to say I would not go back, because I would, and I do recommend it. But there are a ton of great places to eat in Chicago.....

I didn't realize how shitty your train lines schedule is. I apologize.

The salad bar is outstanding. Also you can get sauces if you ask for the meats. Like Chimichuri, and Mint Jelly.

Yolk

Yolk is a chain of a few restaurants. Mine's located on Wells and Chicago.
It's such an awesome breakfast/lunch place. I've never had a bad meal there at all.
Highly recommend the onion chips in place of fries.
