I'm currently camping outside of Moab. Unfortunately (for her), my wife is taking a WFR course in Moab, so I am not sure if she would make it back to me. It would depend on the zombie type and how widespread they are already if I make the decision to go find her. However, I have several days of food and water. There is a small slot canyon I can see from my camp. I would try to ferry everything up there. I have my climbing gear so I could probably get to areas unreachable by zombies. I have my sidearm with me, but only 15 rounds. I guess 14, it you go by the "save the last one for yourself", like with bears. I would wait out for a while. Use my binocs to check out how things are going near the highway. There are tons of people with decked out offroad vehicles here (rockcrawlers, 4wheelers, gators, motorbikes). Mine is capable, but not like some of the rigs here. I am sure I could scavenge those as people start dying off (along with larger quantities of gas without having to go into Moab). From there it would have to all be improv. I could pretty easily last 4 days from my current situation. But as the need to move and acquire more supplies, thats when the SHTF.
Edit: I also have my satellite messenger, that I could try to communication out to people to see what the situation is elsewhere. Presumably it is pretty much everywhere, but might as well try.
