Most are welcome to hope for that, but he's 22 years old, and about to make the jump from AAA to MLB, and there's going to be a learning curve. If he was Bryce Harper or Mike Trout, he wouldn't've been bought for projected middle-of-the-rotation pitcher. Just my 2 cents tho.

I think your expectations are fair, and I agree with a lot of your assessment. That said the discussion isn't about what we, Cubs fans at CCS, are expecting from Rizzo, but rather what this fanbase that is starving for anything positive at the major league level right now has for him.

I'd be happy with a .260 average, 8 HR this year to be honest.

I'm a bit confused as to where the "savior" hype has come from. I mean, we know he's a good AAA player, but hell, we got him for Andrew freaking Cashner. Cashner may end up being a solid #3 starter or a good set-up man, but right now he's got a 3.80+ era and a whip over 1.5.

I think Rizzo will end up being a good player, but for the rest of this season I'm just hopeful he bats around .280 with 12-15 hrs and plays solid defense. He's young, and if everyone's going to preach to me about how we need to give Castro time to mature into an MLB player, then the same's gotta be true about Rizzo.

12-15 yearly? I expect 25-30 from a power position like 1B. He had over 50 in last 158 games in AAA.

Go back to the Sox forum and tell us how 2 relievers and a nothing prospect are worth a top of the rotation starter :troll:

for a guy with an anxiety disorder/FA to be/Cant pitch on the road....what do you think he nets? lets be real. But if it was you it would be worse, it would be ascensio and coleman for him alone with a lot of theoisms.

I think you are better than that for such a smart fan. And or I think the next time you go off on a Cubs fan in the Sox forum for being negative about a Sox player you might want to remember this as many examples of your and a few other Sox fans behavior in this forum.

how ya figure?

A lot of highly touted prospects from the cubs end up in baltimore when they dont pan out as projected. I believe a lot of the rizzo hype is a bit over the top. A lot of players rake in AAA and come to the MLB and get put in check. The cubs are atleast 4 years from competing and a lot of fans are confused and seem to think Rizzo is going to save the cubs. he isnt trout or harper, but for some reason the chicago media want to portray him that way. just go on twitter and follow the chicago media.

Kind of jealous of the Cubs just because you guys actually have prospects to be excited about. I've been excited about maybe 3-4 prospects for the Sox the past 3ish years.

Wish the Sox had a good farm system because watching players grow in the minors and scouting and stuff like that is something I really like.

Being over .500 is fun to watch too.

I'd take a good future and the chance of being really good in the future over being mediocre every year. White Sox are in-betweeners. Not great, not bad.

Wait...

This happens all over America...for every baseball team...Local markets over-hype the best prospects. So...the pro-Cubs media shouldn't do it? b/c prospects are just prospects and haven't proven anything? They say/write what they do for views. People want to hear positive stuff about people that should be good for their teams. And, the Cubs prospects not panning out isn't isolated on the north side of chicago either. Nationally I'm hearing very, very little about Rizzo. But of course if you listen to chicago media, they're going to talk about the player batting .350 in AAA.

I can find you plenty of articles out there about tempering expectations for Rizzo. A lot of us know that he isn't harper or trout. But the assumption that he is Pie or Patterson is about as dumb as assuming he is Harper/Trout.

If Greinke's traded, he's gonna bring back a nice package. Too many buyers, too few sellers, and he's got electric stuff. If the Sox want him, they're gonna have to offer more than that package I'd think...not necessarily b/c he's worth a whole lot more, but b/c the market is there for him.

Dews, it's called trying to get a giant fanbase interested in watching their team. Tough to watch a team play that badly. I actually applaud the Cubs writers, broadcasters, etc. for keeping the fans interest this year.
