Ya, two relievers and a no-name prospect definitely wouldn't be enough for him. Saying that just because he he is a "headcase" his value would be that low is well... inaccurate.

So, if Rizzo stinks then what will Cub fans clamor for next? Ronnie Woo Woo Jr?

Jorge Soler, Brett Jackson, Albert Almora, Javier Baez, potential #1 pick next year, perhaps Yasiel Puig if we can sign him, Josh Vitters... there is a lot we can be excited about to an extent.

As a matter of fact, we have a big-time prospect (ranked #16 before call-up) producing at the major league level right now in Starlin Castro.

Greinke's value >>> Two relievers and a no-name prospect

Not sure who you mentioned as specific names, but his value is significantly higher than that... it is ridiculous to believe that that is enough for him... that is literally nothing to a team that isn't competing.

Only trade him for good specs, not for a no-name and two relievers.

No one's saying it's going to be the farm...but it's not going to be a bunch of scrubs either...There's a middle ground, and the team that gets him, or any high-end acquisition this season, is going to overspend a bit. There's only about 6 clear sellers at this point, meaning 20-24 teams are at least considering improving their rosters this midseason.

taken in the fact that he is a:

FA

Has an anxiety disorder and scouts are worried about him in big markets

Totally different pitcher outside of miller park

I love how dabs says that i would criticize cub fans for their dumb ass proposals, I would because it would be asencio and coleman and a low level spec dicussed in here for him.

No, it wouldn't be. 2 relievers and a shitty spec like Mitchell isn't enough, this entire forum realizes that.

You really think relievers are worth that much Dewey? I asked you a point blank question in the thread that was discussing this and you didn't answer me. The proposal you suggested was laughably one sided and I called you out for it. Now go and tell us that every prospect the Cubs have will flop and how the Sox will be able to get all the pieces they need without taking salary on and no legitimate prospects to trade.

I think it's tougher for a team to let go of a good reliever than it is for a different team to want them in a trade.

But if moneyball (the book, not movie) taught me anything, it's that relievers are expendable and finding a good one isn't really tough. And they're overrated. Especially closers.

wtf are you even talking about? Thats all I would give up because we dont have the pieces in the farm( not enough ) and dont want to rank 1034 in the farm standings and dont want to give up any mlb talent like viciedo, beckham etc for a FA to be when its a huge gamble with greinkes situation and the fact that its not a shoe in to make the playoffs. try again.

Judging from this post, there may just be a misunderstanding......

You weren't saying that the package you suggested for Greinke would actually land him, just that it was what you'd be willing to part w/ if you called the shots, given the current circumstances surrounding the Sox?

yes. I am very scared to give up much more than what I said for all those variables that are pretty risky for the sox.

ahhhhhh, ok. That changes everything. ha. I thought (and I'm assuming several on here also thought) that you believed that group would net Grienke, which in some years it might...but probably not this year. But, I get not wanting to give up a lot for a guy that won't be on the team past this season.

now if you have a 10 game lead you probably give a shit load for him. also closer to the deadline which is a little over a month away more and more pitchers will be available as well.
