Buster Olney on Twitter:
There is no current dialogue between the Dodgers and Cubs about Ryan Dempster. Deadline 3 days, 2 hours away.

Olney is tweeting that the discussion between the Dodgers and Cubs are done with each side knowing what the other wants to do.

Nothing going to happen, if we didn't have to deal with NTC's and 10/5's our FO could do something, but not now I guess as far as major moves. Have to hope we get a biter on Soriano and LaHair, not much else to do.

Or couple LaHair w/ Dempster -- and get a good prospect....or couple Soriano with Dempster, and have them take on a decent amount of Sori's contract.

I wonder if there's a chance now that Epstein or Hoyer can approach Dempster and tell him, "Hey, there's no way we're going to work out a trade with the Dodgers now that you pulled your stunt. So, it's either accept the deal with Atlanta... or rot on a team we're trying to make worse. Your call... playoff shot with Atlanta, or diminished value in the upcoming free agency market." Then Demp can pull his head out of his ass.

I'm sure they had a variant of that conversation before the leverage went in the shitter. Dempster obviously doesn't care because he doesn't want to go.

It seemed like Dempster was forcing the FO to make another attempt with the Dodgers. Now that it's a proven fail... maybe Dempster will pull his head out of his ass.

That also depends on whether the Cubs can get fair value back. If not, they are under no obligation to trade Dempster for less than he's worth.

Brett from BleacherNation had an interesting quote he tweeted at Doug Padilla. The way he worded it seemed to imply it was coming from Padilla:
Wait, what? @ESPNChiCubs in a chat last hr: "Looks like [Demp] will still go somewhere though &he'll let go of LA dream if deadline is near"

I should add that Bruce Levine seemed to indicate that Dempster would be willing to go to more teams but wants time to consider it before he agrees. He also seemed to indicate that he might even take time to think about going to LA.

Not sure if posted...

Dempster will consider trades to a number of teams, including the Braves and Dodgers, if the Cubs approach him with a deal in place, Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com reports. "He has not said that he wouldn't go to Atlanta or anywhere else for that matter," a person familiar with the situation told Levine.

Dempster needs to stop changing the story. Either he wants to go to Atlanta or not. Stop making it hard on the front office by changing your mind every day. *****.
