It's kind of a dick move by Dempster to not accept the trade. Gonna leave the team anyway, so thank the team by letting them get something in return for you.

The worry is that perhaps Dempster is now set on the idea of going to the Dodgers and is basically only going to go pitch with the Dodgers. I don't know if it is or isn't, but this whole thing seems like the front offices had agreed and the Cubs were going to start talking to Dempster about it when the whole thing blew up. And now everyone Cub is back tracking on the deal to try to give Dempster a chance to really think about this deal.

It's a dick move, but it's his privilege. That's what makes this hard for the Cubs, they have to please him instead of just shipping him wherever.

I still think the theory that Atlanta broke the story before the Cubs had a chance to confirm with Dempster that he would waive his NTC is what went down today is the most accurate.

Only theories I've heard is that Dempster needs time to consider it or Dempster is trying to leverage an extension out of this. Personally I am starting to fear that Dempster has his heart set on the Dodgers, and is going to force the Cubs to take a crap deal from LAD.

but everyone was saying he wanted to help the cubs and yada yada yada, i understand where he is coming from but i think its a bit unfair to hold a team hostage. if he only wanted to go to LA than thats where he should have been traded to. either stubborness on demp or some communication issues with theo and demp.
