This is why so many front offices are so tight lipped. The White Sox, Cubs, Jays and many others don't have these leaks, and all this stuff coming from the Braves side might screw up this deal which is starting to make me angry given what this deal means to the Cubs.

GMs aren't going to leak anything anymore because journalists have itchy fingers.

9:40 Paul Sullivan is going to be on the score and Jim Callis is going to be on at 10. So good chance to get some info about the Dempster situation.

Peggy Kusinski is still pushing that Dempster is holding out for an extension angle saying that he would accept a deal to LAD or NYY (wtf?) if it came with a 2 year extension.

Tom Loxas mentions my fear in this that Dempster just wants to go to the Dodgers.

It is of course possible that all of them are speculating. But boy did this get weird.

Ultimately I am trying to stay level headed and going with occam's razor with the Dempster situation. Dempster got pissed off that he found out about the trade from reproters and not the Cubs and so is ticked off right now. Cubs are back tracking to try to placate Dempster and give him a chance to make a decision and we will find out in a few days. Honestly though Dempster being pushed back to Friday wouldn't be out of the question to give him more time.

Sullivan had basically nothing to update except he said that the Cubs were going to tell Dempster when he got to the clubhouse, but Bowman breaking the story led to this. Don't know if Sullivan was speculating when he said that, but he sounded pretty definitive. As far as what the hold up, Sullivan said basically that he didn't know what the deal was. Speigel gave him both the theory of holding out for an extension or that he just wants to go LAD, and basically it is up to Dempster and only Dempster knows.

Callis on Delgado:
1-Has a ceiling of a #3 starter (going by Goldstein that means a guy that puts up 200 innings with a below league average ERA)
2-Throws in the low 90s, good change, and when on his best pitch is his curveball. Braves lost paitence in the middle of the race for a guy walking a guy every other inning.
3-Last year this guy was probably untouchable, and while his stock has dropped since then a great haul for the Cubs.

Bowman the guy who broke the story has two interesting tidbits in the past hour or so on twitter. He admits he should have been more careful in his wording about the deal (I'm guessing he got a talking to) and that everything is in a holding pattern right now but the Braves are confident that he will accept today.

Dempster just tweeted:

Seems to suggest that he might announce his decision via twitter.

Bowman's latest tweet:
As the Braves to learn whether Ryan Dempster will accept the trade that would bring him to Atlanta, they are continuing to evaluate other options. But as things currently stand, it appears it would be in their best interest if Dempster would accept. The Braves have shown interest in Zack Greinke. But with Brewers seeking a return that would include Julio Teheran and at least one more top 15 prospect, the Braves would rather wait to pursue Greinke as a free agent this winter. Early Wednesday afternoon, Dempster tweeted (@RyanDempsterFDN): “Nothing official to report. You will be the 1st to know.

The conversation that is going on is so weird when you look at what is being reported in Chicago and Atlanta. In Chicago it is nothing is official. Get off my lawn you damn kids with your the twitter and the facebook, etc. And everything is Atlanta well we are waiting to see if Dempster approves or vetoes the trade.

This would probably have been a lot easier if Atlanta had known to STFU. It could be a ploy to get the wheels moving by the Braves, force the Cubs and Dempster to fast-track. Too bad it backfired.
