Sad thing with that scenario, Dombrowski said he wasn't going to trade Turner for a rental... and there's almost no chance that Sanchez doesn't hit the FA market this winter. Infante? Wow, talk about taking several steps back. They got rid of that schlub years ago for a reason.

I think ATL jumped the gun on the leak as we've been saying for a while. If they hadn't, this whole mess doesn't happen. The Cubs aren't exactly cursed but they have to deal with all this random unfathomable shit anyway :lol:

I don't think it's that simple and I don't think he's nixed anything nor approved anything. If you have the no-trade rights and you asked the team to inform you of a trade beforehand, I don't think this happens. That someone (ATL beat writers, whatever) jumped the gun is probably not kosher, and maybe everyone overreacted, but it's definitely understandable given his family situation and his affinity to Chicago that he'd need more time to figure it out. That's his right/privilege/whatever. Naturally that doesn't mean we can't be annoyed or mad about it, but it's all on him and I don't presume to know how he's feeling right now, which is what the media is doing while putting out these tweets and grasping at straws.

Dempster never wanted to go to Atlanta. He is using the leak as an excuse to want to go to the Dodgers.

I don't think he ever said outright that he was going to nix the deal nor did he say he didn't want to go. Obviously you'd want the trade to be done soon but sometimes it just doesn't work that way.

okay I get it. these are people and getting traded is like suddenly having to change your lifestyle and stuff but get the **** over it, Theo spoke to you about being traded and possible destinations, you knew you were as good as gone AND July 31st is only a week away anyway, it was going to happen, stop being a baby and accept the damn trade Dwight... Every hour and day that Dempster sulks about being blindsided, even though it was the most talked about thing in Chicago sports, it gets harder to trade Garza.

If you want to go to the Dodgers tell the team that, don't pretend to want to help the Cubs and the pull out at the last minute.

thing is, even if he does stay and pitches tomorrow, it isn't even at Wrigley so if he wanted a final hurrah with the Cubs he isn't going to get it, and is only hurting his chances of going to LA or ATL, if I was him and knew I wasn't wanted/needed anymore I would just go this is awkward for all parties involved now. If he goes to ATL a lot of people are gonna say his heart isnt there, if he stays he knows he screwed the Cubs, if he goes to LA he screws the Cubs and looks selfish. Good job Ryan your legacy is set!
